Before I Go: My First Published Book and a Dream Realised

I feel incredibly proud—and just a little overwhelmed—as I share with you something very personal and very special: My first published book: Before I Go.

This book represents not just a story I’ve written, but a journey I’ve walked—one of discovery, reflection, and deep emotional connection. It’s a tribute to voices that were often unheard, stories that were never told, and memories that still linger quietly in the corners of our collective past.

About the Book

Before I Go is the story of Ranjeeta, a young woman who comes of age during the turbulent time of India’s Partition. In a society where women’s voices were often silenced, Ranjeeta’s family gives her the space to dream. But even the most hopeful dreams can be shattered by forces beyond one’s control.

Though fictional, this story draws deeply from real-life events and lived experiences. It is inspired by the stories of people who lived through Partition—those who endured unimaginable loss, trauma, and displacement, and carried its scars quietly for the rest of their lives.

This book is a tribute to them. It seeks to remember the forgotten, honour the survivors, and give voice to the emotional truths that history books often overlook.

My Inspiration

Earlier this year, I felt a strong pull to write something more meaningful than my usual blog posts. I didn’t have a clear topic in mind at first, but I’ve always loved reading historical fiction, and I’ve always felt deeply connected to India’s rich and complex history. That gave me a starting point.

I wanted to write a story that touched on history, women’s lives, and social issues-something intimate yet broad in scope. That’s when the Partition of India caught my attention. As I began reading more about it, I felt drawn into its depth—the heartbreak, the resilience, the silences.

I dove into research: articles online, old newspaper archives, survivor interviews, documentaries, books, and films. Every new piece uncovered more emotion, more insight—and with each step, I became more certain that this was the story I had to tell.

The Journey of Writing

The writing journey began in early 2025. I spent nearly two months immersed in research, after which I started writing the manuscript in earnest. By the end of April, the first draft was ready.

I then shared it with some of my closest friends whose feedback helped me improve the manuscript—correcting factual errors, refining the narrative, and ensuring the emotional arc felt authentic and resonant.

At the end of May, I started looking for a publisher. Once that was in place, a new journey began—editing, refining, designing the cover, typesetting, and preparing the final edition.

And finally, on July 19th, 2025, Before I Go was officially launched in Mumbai, India, alongside the work of six other authors. A moment I will never forget.

What Comes Next
Now begins a new phase: Reaching as many readers as I can.

If this story resonates with you, if you believe in the power of remembering and storytelling—please support me by buying a copy, sharing it with others, and letting me know what you think. Your reviews and feedback mean the world to me, and they’ll help this book reach people who may need to read it.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being part of this journey with me.

Hi Everyone!

I am thrilled to share with you that I have launched my debut novel: Before I Go.

Set against the backdrop of India’s Partition, Before I Go, is a story that follows the life of a woman navigating that turbulent time.
If you enjoy historical fiction, stories centred on women’s experiences, or books that tug at your heartstrings, I think you’ll really connect with this one.

It would mean a lot if you could support me by purchasing the book and leaving a review—either on the platform you buy it from or on Goodreads.

Luxembourg is a small European country located west of Germany, sharing its borders with France, Germany, and Belgium. Its capital, Luxembourg City, is well known for being one of the four institutional seats of the European Union and the EU’s Court of Justice. Apart from these important offices, Luxembourg City is famed for its fortified medieval old town perched on sheer cliffs. It is a treasure trove of medieval architecture and natural beauty.

Recently, we made a two-day trip to Luxembourg City as part of our three-day holiday.

It Ends with Us: Storyline and Book Review
https://dailyreveries.com/2025/06/23/it-ends-with-us-storyline-and-book-review/

It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover is a compelling exploration of abuse and domestic violence. Hoover sensitively delves into these complex topics, shedding light on the challenges of leaving such situations and the journey to freedom.

The story follows Lily, a young woman who has endured a traumatic childhood, witnessing the abuse of her mother by her father. Despite her love for her father, Lily’s feelings are complicated by his actions. She grapples with the question of why her mother stays with her father despite the abuse.

The story begins with the father’s passing and Lily’s decision not to utter a single word of appreciation for him in his eulogy. Frustrated and upset, Lily leaves the funeral. That evening, as she sits on the terrace of a tall building, wanting to have some time for herself, she encounters Ryle, a young man, who too seems frustrated about things in his life and has made his way to the terrace the same way as Lily, to vent out his anger. Lily and Ryles’s chance encounter leads them to know each other a bit more, and the two share some naked truths with each other.

Memoirs of a Geisha

Author Arthur Golden’s Memoirs of a Geisha is a fictional story about Chiyo, a young girl from a small village who goes on to become the most successful Geisha in Japan’s history.

Chiyo, a young, innocent girl who knows little beyond the small fishing village she comes from, is abandoned by her family, brought to Kyoto, and forced into a life of independence. Her arrival in Kyoto and acceptance into an Okiya (House of the Geishas) marks the beginning of her transformation. Her carefree life ends, but her determination to survive and thrive is just beginning.

For many years, she works as a maid in the Okiya. She has to follow orders and do as she is asked to. The owner of the Okiya, other Geishas, and maids share the space with her. Here, she comes across Hatsumomo, a Geisha and the prime earner of the Okiya. She dislikes Chiyo and leaves no stone unturned to create trouble for her. Chiyo’s life becomes complicated with the constant presence of Hatsumomo.

Chiyo’s journey is not just a series of external challenges but also a deeply emotional struggle. She longs for her family, yearns for a better life, and feels lonely in a world of strangers. Her life is a poignant mix of desperation, hopelessness, and low self-esteem.
