Community Support Needed This Summer for Our Food Pantries

As we move into the summer months, we are asking for our community’s help to protect and support our local food pantries serving our military community. Both Patch Pantry and Panzer Pantry exist to support individuals and families who may need a helping hand—and they only work when we all do our part to care for them.

Unfortunately, both pantries have recently experienced repeated vandalism and misuse during times when volunteers are not present. These actions create additional work for our already limited volunteer teams and take resources away from the families these pantries are meant to support.

To the young people who may be responsible: these pantries are here for your neighbors, classmates, teammates, and fellow military families. Please help protect them—not damage them.

Here’s how you can help:

✅ Be extra eyes and ears around pantry areas and encourage respectful use of these shared spaces.
✅ Talk with your children and teens about being good stewards of community resources and shared spaces.
✅ Volunteer! Both pantry teams are stretched thin, and we urgently need additional support this summer for stocking, organizing, monitoring, and maintaining the pantries. Even a small amount of time makes a difference.

Patch Pantry, located at the chapel annex, relies on our community to help us remain good stewards of the space entrusted to us. Panzer Pantry, housed within another military facility, also depends on community care and respect to continue serving those who need it.

If you are interested in volunteering or helping in another way, please reach out to [email protected].

Together, we can keep these resources available, welcoming, and protected for everyone who relies on them.

Thank you for supporting our military community.

Dani is one of our amazing pantry volunteers who we appreciate so much! Here is why she volunteers:

“I volunteer for two reasons: to set an example for my daughter and to fulfill as best I can the obligation I believe all members of a community have to improve their community.”

Thank you Dani!

Every week, the Feminist Club stocks the bathrooms at the high school with period products. They do this from the beginning of the year to the last week of school. They put out roughly about 80 pads a week (10 per bathroom), and the same with pantyliners and tampons. If they don't have donations from the community the club sponsor and club members often buy in bulk when they are on sale.
You can help by donating period products at the Panzer location of the Community Pantry, it’s open 24/7! Help support our young community leaders while they support their fellow students!

The pantry has amazing volunteers of all ages! Thank you Micah for all your work making our community a better place!

“Hi, my name is Micah Bose-Gomez and I am a freshman at Stuttgart High School. I am an Active Duty dependent and we have been stationed here for almost three years. I decided to volunteer at the Panzer Pantry after seeing how much the shutdown affected the teachers and staff at school. As the shutdown dragged on, I couldn’t help but think about how stressful it was for them and for our entire community. I wanted to do something meaningful to help lessen the burden and when the opportunity to volunteer presented itself, I knew it was a great opportunity to help my community.”

Volunteer Spotlight! Thank you for all you do Kathryn!

“My name is Kathryn Brown. When the government shutdown happened, I realized how much our community needed a food pantry. When I heard that Shay was organizing one, I knew immediately that I wanted to be involved. Even though the shutdown has ended, I see the continued to need for a food pantry on the Garrison. I am honored to be part of the ongoing efforts to stabilize the pantry as a resource for anyone in our community. We all experience unexpected challenges, but when we come together, food scarcity doesn’t have to be one of them.”

It takes a village to run a pantry! We’d like to spotlight some of our amazing pantry volunteers this month! ❤️
From Becca:
“My name is Becca and I’m so happy to be working as the lead volunteer and site coordinator for the Patch pantry! I wanted to get involved in supporting our community in a real and tangible way during the shutdown and found this to be an excellent way to give back. What we saw &heard from those who needed our help is that even in the best of times help is needed and appreciated. Your continued support makes all the difference, thank you!”
