Harvest ‘La Familia’ this year’s olive harvest means so much more to us than oil - It’s a story of Resilience (commiting to this project through all its challenges and not letting go.. it’s a big thing we will share more about this topic), Togetherness & Love

We wanted to share with you in pictures what we mean by it:

Cosecha “La Familia”
La cosecha de aceitunas de este año significa para nosotros mucho más que aceite: es una historia de resiliencia (seguir comprometidos con este proyecto a pesar de todos sus desafíos y no soltarlo… es algo importante sobre lo que compartiremos más), de unión y de amor.

Queríamos compartir con vosotros en imágenes lo que queremos decir:

1 – Empezamos a cosechar temprano por la mañana, un pequeño momento de gratitud frente a este árbol majestuoso.
2 – Los cosechadores de este año, jóvenes y mayores reunidos para trabajar duro y pasar tiempo de calidad.
3 – Aquí están, recogidas a mano y listas para ser prensadas.
4, 5, 6 – Nuestro hijo Paolo, que acaba de cumplir 4 años, y sus primas gemelas Lisa y Veerle. Les encantó participar en la cosecha.
7 – La hermana de Carlo cosechando… ¡un buen entrenamiento de brazos y hombros!
8 – Una ducha de aceitunas para la tía Carla.
9 – Después del trabajo duro, disfrutando de una cata de vino natural local con Kara (Other Blues)
10 – Cena de recompensa: paella casera de Michael (Creative Catering) con verduras de la finca.
10 – Abundancia de aceitunas recolectadas temprano.
11 – Oro verde, el auténtico.
12 – Probando el resultado del trabajo duro, con todos nuestros sentidos.
13 – Nuevas botellas de vidrio de 250 ml y 500 ml, perfectas como regalos festivos para vuestros seres queridos.

Win the very first bottle of ‘La Familia’ harvest 2025, our new extra virgin olive oil! 🍾

Harvesting the olives has been hard work, but also so much fun. Since we arrived, we’ve kept a little tradition of involving you in the harvest by guessing the total kilograms—and whoever comes closest wins the first bottle, shipped straight to you!

So… how much do you think we harvested this year?
We have about 200 olive trees varying in size and age, and here are the quantities from the years we’ve had a proper harvest:
2020: 294 kg
2021: 836 kg
2023: 1,364 kg
(2022 & 2024 were without significant harvests on our farm due to droughts)

Participation is open worldwide—one guess per person (your first comment counts). The 250 ml bottle ships free within Europe; outside the EU we’ll cover part of the shipping costs, similar to EU rates.

Today, five years ago, we received the keys to our 15-hectare farm here in Miravet, Catalunya.
Full of energy and dreams, we set out to create a Regenerative Agroforestry farm — without the slightest idea of what lay ahead. 🌱

The countless challenges, the new skills, the languages to learn, unlearn, and relearn… Looking back, we were so naive — but maybe that’s exactly what we needed to be to start something this wild. 🌾

Would we have ever begun if we had known what it would take? We’re not sure. 🤔

Over these five years, we’ve grown so much — as individuals, as a couple, as parents, as caretakers of this land, as farmers and entrepreneurs. 🌳

One thing is certain: we could never have come this far alone. The support we’ve received has carried us through every high and low. ❤️

Together, we can do anything.
Thank you for being part of this beautiful, crazy adventure. Here’s to the next five years! 🎉

Hoy, hace cinco años, recibimos las llaves de nuestra finca de 15 hectáreas aquí en Miravet, Catalunya.
Llenos de energía y sueños, emprendimos la creación de una finca de Agroforestería Regenerativa, sin tener la menor idea de lo que nos esperaba. 🌱

Los innumerables retos, las cosas nuevas que aprender, desaprender y volver a aprender… Mirando atrás, éramos tan ingenuos — pero quizá era justo esa ingenuidad la que necesitábamos para comenzar algo tan loco. 🌾

¿Lo habríamos hecho si hubiéramos sabido todo lo que implicaba? No estamos seguros. 🤔

En estos cinco años hemos crecido muchísimo — como personas, como pareja, como padres, como guardianes de esta tierra, como agricultores y emprendedores. 🌳

Una cosa está clara: nunca habríamos llegado tan lejos solos. El apoyo recibido nos ha acompañado en cada paso del camino. ❤️

Juntos, podemos con todo.

This summer at the farm was unlike any other 🌱💛
After hail, heatwaves, and even a fire that came frighteningly close, the season tested us in every way. Our garden grew differently, less abundant, but full of lessons. Through it all, we were lifted by an incredible community — friends, neighbors, family, and volunteers who poured their hearts into helping us keep going. 💪✨

We said goodbye to Gabriel & Lisanne, welcomed Febe for the summer, leaned on our neighbors Chris, Mary & Phill, and had amazing support from Mickey, Jesse, and Paolo (in between forest school breaks 🌳). Together, we even harvested the first food forest bouquets — a little dream come true.

In the middle of it all, we paused for something very special: a trip back to NL to get married 💍💕

We improved our Wash & Pack station, began new collaborations with local artisanal producers, and are preparing to launch a webshop with beautiful ecological products: natural wine, honey, olive oil, soaps, and more. 🍯🍷🌿

As we step into autumn, with winter crops in the ground and fresh energy for what’s ahead, we are so grateful — for the challenges that made us grow, and the people who made it all possible. 🌾✨

Community = Resilience 💪🏽🌿

Today we started rebuilding the farm after the storm, clients, neighbors and friends joined us to clear out beds, try to minimize damage to existing plants and to plant new vegetables again. A day filled with positive energy, being active together planting hope, is a powerful act of activism and connection.

We finished together with a lunch from the harvest of the morning; potatoes, red cabbage, leek flowers, sourdough bread from Isaac Bentley and much more great food & natural wine. A productive day, but mostly a heartwarming one with community showing up, for which we are incredibly grateful 💚

Hoy empezamos a reconstruir la huerta después de la tormenta. Clientes, vecinos y amigos se unieron para limpiar los bancales, intentar minimizar los daños a las plantas existentes y volver a plantar nuevas hortalizas.

Un día lleno de energía positiva, de estar activos juntos sembrando esperanza, es un acto poderoso de activismo y conexión.

Terminamos compartiendo un almuerzo con la cosecha de la mañana: patatas, col lombarda, flores de puerro, pan de masa madre de Isaac el Panadero y mucho más buen comer y vino natural. Un día productivo, pero sobre todo muy emotivo, con la comunidad presente, algo por lo que estamos profundamente agradecidos 💚

In just 10 minutes, 20mm of hail destroyed months of hard work. 90% of our vegetable crops were wiped out just as our peak season began. Seeds of crops as tomato, corn, cucumber and watermelon have been nurtured daily since February, to deliver on a weekly base to households and restaurants.

It’s heartbreaking — but we’re not giving up. We’ve already started cleaning up and replanting with the help of our incredible community. But the next few months will be tough without income from the lost harvest. If you can — and only if you have the means — please support us with a donation.
