About the Farm
The farm is an integrated agro-business operation producing crops, fruits, vegetables, forage, and livestock. Production is supported by an irrigation system using water pumped from a nearby river, enabling year-round farming.
Job Summary
The Farm Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all farm operations, including crop, horticulture, forage, and livestock activities. The position ensures efficient use of resources, proper irrigation management, and achievement of production targets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Plan, organize, and oversee daily operations of the integrated farm.
• Manage crop, fruit, vegetable, forage, and livestock production activities.
• Supervise irrigation operations using river-based pump systems.
• Ensure efficient use of water, farm inputs, and equipment.
• Supervise farm workers and assign tasks effectively.
• Implement modern and climate-smart agricultural practices.
• Monitor production performance and take corrective measures when required.
• Maintain accurate farm records, inventories, and production reports.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Coordinate with company management on planning, budgeting, and reporting.
Required Qualifications
Experience
• Bachelor’s degree or above in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, Animal Science, or related fields.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in integrated farm management.
• Strong knowledge of crop, horticulture, forage, and livestock production systems.
• Experience in irrigation management, preferably river pump irrigation systems.
• Proven ability to manage farm labor and resources.
Skills & Competence
• Good leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prepare technical and operational reports.
• Willingness to work in rural and field-based environments.
Language
• Knowledge of Somali and English is required
• Basic Amharic/Oroma communication is advantage

Real storey about elderly pastoralist man!

Today early morning, at the main bridge in Gode, we met an elderly pastoralist named Abdiwali, exhausted but hopeful, leading his camel herd in search of pasture. He told us he had travelled three days and nights from Afdher Zone to the outskirts of Gode, where the Dayr rains have been slightly better.

Abdiwali’s story reflects the real lived experience shared by Somali pastoralists for centuries—moving from place to place in search of pasture and water. But today, this traditional way of life is becoming increasingly unsustainable. Climate change has severely disrupted rainfall patterns, turning drought into a constant threat and pushing pastoralist livelihoods to the brink.

This is why Boxoshe Agro Business is committed to supporting a new path forward. We are ready to introduce climate-resilient solutions, including the production of high-quality forage and promoting zero-grazing systems that can reduce pressure on rangelands and protect livestock during shocks.
