This will be a collaborative gathering of farmers, chefs, researchers, innovators, and cultural practitioners working to shape the future of ʻulu and strengthen food systems across the world.

In many Pacific Island communities, the flower of the Breadfruit has traditionally been used as a natural mosquito repellent! 🦟

When dried and burned, the male breadfruit flower produces a smoke that helps keep mosquitoes away — a simple, chemical-free solution passed down through generations.

Long before store-bought repellents were available, Pacific families relied on local knowledge and the resources around them to protect their homes. 🌺🌏

This is just one example of how traditional practices continue to support health and wellbeing across our islands.

We’re looking for a motivated Event Coordinator to join our team on a 9-month contract and play a key role in planning our biggest ‘Ulu (breadfruit) Celebration yet! 💥🍈💥

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in fundraising and coordinating large-scale events who’s ready to bring energy, organisation, and creativity to a flagship community celebration.

📍 Location: Hawai‘i Island (South Kona–based with travel across island; remote work possible)
