The Tilted Wig 📍

Back again to The Tilted Wig Aberdeen for their latest menu launch and quiz night with probably the most entertaining quiz host in Aberdeen - don’t go if you’re easily offended but we love it 😂

AD-invite

We tucked into two burgers on the menu, the Texan Beef with Cheese, BBQ sauce and Onion Rings and the Kimchi with Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Kimchi Cabbage and Korean BBQ sauce. So we didn’t miss out, we halved the burgers to share and loved them both, but especially the kimchi burger.

Always a great night out at the Tilted Wig, thanks guys ❤️

📍New Inn Hotel Ellon

Went to the New Inn in Ellon recently for the first time in ages for some really good food!

The Aberwegian Food Guide always talks about how much she loves the Cornkist Chicken, which is chicken in a creamy mushroom sauce topped with oatmeal and cheese, so i had to try it and it lived up to expectations 👌🏻

We also had the prawn cocktail, the chicken parma, the kids lasange and the eton mess sundae. Loved it all and will be back sooner this time 🥰

Siam Cottage 🇹🇭

We recently went to , one of Aberdeen’s best Thai restaurants. One of their specialities is their sea bass dishes, which you can have as a whole seabass or filleted. The flavours in it were soo good and it’s definitely something I’ll go back especially for, but all the food was 👌🏻 We tied the night in with the weekly quiz at which I also highly recommend!

What we ate:

• Honey Chilli Chicken
• Shredded Chilli Beef
• Pad Krapow Goong
• Pla Rad Prik

Maki & Ramen
📍Union Square, Aberdeen

Recently headed to Maki and Ramen for the first time! I was impressed with the food, staff and how family friendly it was, Hudson very much enjoyed trying out the chopsticks and eating noodles 😁 AD-invite

I’d highly recommend the eel sushi. It’s always something I go for if it’s on the menu, if you haven’t tried it then you must.

We also had:
• Chicken Katsu Curry - probably not the best version I’ve had of this before, the sauce was a little thin, but it was still nice!
• Chicken Yakisoba - loved this dish with crispy chicken and noodles in a sweet soy sauce 😋
• Pumpkin Croquettes - another dish I always order if I see it, so good
• Crispy Salmon Sushi - this was nice but i wished the salmon was raw instead of cooked which felt a bit unusual
• Takoyaki - these octopus balls reminded me of the ones we had in a tiny takoyaki bar in Tokyo, yum!

📍Travancore, Aberdeen

I’ve been quiet on here for the last few months as we had a very difficult start to the year but it does feel good to finally be able to go out and about again. We managed to squeeze in a visit to . I’ve wanted to try this spot for ages, and it didn’t disappoint.

Situated in the city centre on Holburn Street, Travancore specialises in South Indian dishes and is quite a bit different from other Indian restaurants in Aberdeen with seafood curries, creamy coconut chicken dishes and the famous dosas.

Go here if you love Indian food but you want to try a completely different menu from the usual. We started with snacks including battered pappadam and banana chips served with homemade chutneys which was a perfect start and a taste of what was to come. For starters, we had the Chicken 65 - Indian style fried chicken and Masala Dosa - a huge crepe filled with spiced potatoes with a sauce for dipping.

For mains we shared two creamy coconut chicken curries and the chicken biriyani, all with more rice and buttery paratha to mop up all the sauce

We had so much food, loved it all, and didn’t leave feeling uncomfortably full. I’d recommend sharing dishes because it’s all so good and the friendly family who run the restaurant are more than happy to help out with the menu too!
