Chapter 32
Daisy and Hettie's Football Fever
The sun had barely risen over Middleton Farm when Daisy and Hettie were already wide awake.
The fluffy Highland cow twins had hardly slept a wink.
"Did it really happen?" whispered Hettie, peeking over the fence.
"It did!" mooed Daisy excitedly. "Scotland won!"
The twins had spent the whole evening watching the celebrations from their field. They had seen the Scottish flags waving, heard the cheers echo across the farm, and even spotted a few happy dances that looked suspiciously like Highland cow jigging.
"I knew they'd do it!" said Daisy proudly, flicking her fringe out of her eyes.
"So did I," replied Hettie. "Although I did predict Scotland would win 12-0."
Daisy laughed.
"That's because you thought the goalkeeper was allowed to use his horns."
The twins spent the morning charging around the field pretending they were Scotland's star players.
Daisy dribbled a yellow feed bucket across the grass.
Hettie stood between two fence posts acting as goalkeeper.
"SCOOOORE!" shouted Daisy as the bucket rolled past.
Hettie collapsed dramatically into the grass.
"Oh no! Another goal! Scotland are unstoppable!"
Soon the rest of the farm animals had gathered to watch the excitement.
Scooby and Snoop the donkeys shook their heads.
The yap yaps ducks looked confused.
But Daisy and Hettie didn't care.
Today was a day for celebrating.
As the evening sun settled over Middleton Farm, the twins stood side by side looking across the fields.
"Do you think Scotland can win their next match too?" asked Hettie.
Daisy smiled.
"Of course they can."
Then she lowered her voice.
"But just in case, let's keep practising with that bucket."
And with that, the Highland cow twins raced off across the field, dreaming of football, trophies and Scotland's next big adventure.
