The have moved into their summertime woodland home 🌿🐂

Their grazing, browsing and trampling will reduce dense understory vegetation and help keep glades and rides open. More sunlight will reach the woodland floor, providing more opportunity for a diversity of , insects, birds and other wildlife to thrive.

Fun summery fact for you today. As the sun still shines upon us and summertime is well and truly here, the cows need a little more attention to make sure they are coping well in the heat.

Their Fringe Doubles as Sunglasses ☀️😎

The iconic shaggy hair over their eyes, called a "doddie" or forelock, isn't just for style. During hot summer months, their famous sweeping fringe also serves a practical purpose, helping to shield their eyes from the glare of bright sunlight and protecting their skin from biting insects.

A good groom of that forelock is generally appreciated by our cows too 🙂

It's not just the real thing that I have a 'thing' for.

This is a small insight into my home.

I collect Highland cow art too. Whether it be main stream limited editions. Like Lucy Pittaway, Jan Laird or Jennifer Hogwood, or some local Cumbrian artists, some very talented people and I'm lucky to call friends of mine.

Getting excited now as the launch of our website www.thefringeandthefold.co.uk is imminent.

Huge thanks and massive contributions behind the scenes from Jacob McAtear to get it looking absolutely amazing before it launches 🙏👏

It'll not only have the up and coming stuff from us, but adoption packages, great presents for those Highland cow obsessed friends and family, and also our online shop which of course is Highland moo related. From keyrings to local artists work. I for one, am very proud of the website and how it's coming along 🥰
