The stars of the show were hellebores, narcissi and ranunculus, woven together with delicate blossom and seasonal treasures gathered from the hedgerows around the flower farm.

Longer days, brighter skies, and beautiful blooms.

It’s definitely been wet and soggy lately and the fields have had more than their fair share of water! While it hasn’t been ideal for getting onto the land, we've been able to get on with some important jobs.

We’ve been busy hedge laying around the site, and it’s been such a worthwhile job to tackle at this time of year.

Hedge laying is a traditional countryside skill where hedgerows are carefully cut and partially laid over to encourage thick, healthy regrowth. The result? A living fence that’s stronger, denser, and far better for wildlife.

A well-laid hedge provides:
🌿 Safe nesting sites for birds
🐝 Shelter for pollinators and insects
🦔 Protected corridors for hedgehogs and small mammals to move safely through the landscape
🌾 Food sources in the form of berries, seeds and blossom

By thickening up the base of the hedge, we create more cover at ground level — which is exactly what so many species need for protection from predators and harsh weather.

Even in the soggiest seasons, there’s always something meaningful happening here 🌱
