Welcome to Gamrie Gardens CIC - community allotments, volunteer-led market garden, and honesty shop (open May–Sept), growing beyond organic near Gardenstown, Aberdeenshire, focused on sustainable food and land stewardship. Located in Banff, near Gamrie, the goal of the project is to create a vibrant community space where people can come together to learn, share, and engage with nature. Our vision

is to create a magical and inviting space that respects and celebrates the environment. We are looking for participants, volunteers, and donors to help make our dream a reality. As part of the project, we are building a community garden, hosting workshops, markets and festivals, growing our own food and medicine, and creating a farm shop. We are also looking to set up guest cabins, graze local animals, plant a woodland to increase local wildlife habitat, and introduce 2-3 no-touch bee hives. In the future, we hope to open the space for gatherings, yoga, meditation, and workshops. If you’re looking to make a difference and help create a vibrant community space, please join us in our mission to make Gamrie Gardens a reality.

Come Volunteer at Gamrie Gardens!

We’ve been thinking it’s time to open things up a bit more again.

The garden is at that point in the season where everything is happening at once - planting, weeding, harvesting, animals, seed saving will start soon, too. We are entering our busiest season. And it works best when there are more hands in it.

So we’re inviting you to come get involved.

There’s no experience needed. You don’t need to “know how” to do anything in particular. Most of it is just showing up, learning as you go, and being part of what’s happening here.

Some days are calm. Some days are muddy and chaotic. Most days are somewhere in between.

If you’ve ever wanted to spend time in the garden, get your hands in the soil, or just be around this kind of work - you’re welcome.

Send us a message if you want to come down.

We’re really happy to share that Gamrie Gardens is now officially a Community Interest Company (CIC).

On paper, this is a legal structure. In practice, it simply gives shape to what we’ve already been doing.

It means Gamrie Gardens is formally recognised as an organisation that exists for community benefit — not private gain — and that any surplus generated is reinvested directly back into the work here.

Nothing about what we do day to day changes.

We’re still growing food, supporting wildlife, restoring habitat, sharing skills, and building a space where people can connect more closely with land, food, and each other.

What it does do is strengthen the foundations underneath all of that.

It helps us grow in a way that stays rooted in:
🌳 ecological stewardship
🧄food growing and local resilience
🦇wildlife and habitat care
🐑education and community learning
🪿long-term care of the land we work with

For us, this is less a “new chapter” and more a strengthening of the same one.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Gamrie Gardens so far - you’re part of why this exists at all.

The downpour over the last few days has really helped the pond project. On the left you can see where it’s already holding water and on the right you can see the where the rain has turn the ground into mud, which exactly what we want! Winnie’s task is to kneed those layers together and compacting the ground and mixing together the water, mud and decomposing plant matter we’ve been adding in. This is all looking very promising! The right side will be holding water in no time. The biggest challenge is getting that same effect around the back and sides of the pond.
