Throughout September, we accepted thousands of tonnes of waste. But what does that actually look like? We’ve given our figures an autumnal twist…

☕ 32,839.98 tonnes of liquid waste
That’s the equivalent weight of around 68 million Pumpkin Spice Lattes!

🌰 3,107.18 tonnes of food waste received/collected
That’s roughly the same weight as 310 million conkers!

🎃 3,492.24 tonnes of compost
Enough to cover around 29 one-acre pumpkin patches with a 5cm layer of compost!

From Pumpkin Spice Lattes to conkers and pumpkin patches, that's a whole lot of material managed in just one month. 🍁♻️

🚛♻️ Today marks a major milestone for the UK waste industry.

From 1 October 2026, Digital Waste Tracking becomes a mandatory requirement for waste receiving sites, helping to create a more transparent, efficient, and accountable system for managing waste movements across the sector.

The good news? We're ready.

At GENeco, we have prepared ahead of the changes with dedicated digital systems and API integration in place, enabling us to receive and process the required waste information efficiently and compliantly.

We’ve welcomed lots of new liquid waste customers at our Bristol Treatment Centre recently, so we thought we’d take the opportunity to explain what to expect when you arrive.

Before something goes in the bin, ask yourself: could it have another use? 🤔

Many everyday items can be reused, repurposed or repaired. Helping to reduce waste and make the most of our resources.

💡 Glass jars can become food storage containers
💡 Cardboard boxes can be reused for storage or moving
💡 Shopping bags can be used repeatedly
💡 Clothing and household items can be donated, repaired or upcycled
