The Ouessant Sheep Society is looking for enthusiastic, passionate individuals to join our Board of Trustees on a voluntary basis!
Whether you've been involved with Ouessants for years or are relatively new to the breed, this is a fantastic opportunity to get more involved, make a real difference and help shape the future of the Society.
💚 Why become a Trustee?
As a volunteer Trustee, you'll play an important role in helping to develop and strengthen the OSS, promote our wonderful little sheep and support the conservation of this unique heritage breed for generations to come.
And you don't need to be an expert in everything!
Every Trustee brings their own skills, experiences, ideas and enthusiasm to the table. With so many different aspects to the Society's work, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in areas that interest you.
🐑 What's involved?
✅ The Board meets virtually just 4–5 times a year, plus the AGM.
✅ You can contribute as much time as your other commitments allow.
✅ There are opportunities to get involved in a wide variety of projects and activities.
✅ You'll have the support and guidance of fellow Trustees.
✅ You'll be part of a friendly team working towards a shared goal – the future of the Ouessant breed!
You don't need previous Trustee experience – just enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to get involved.

Any Full Member of the Society is eligible to stand for election as a Trustee, and we'd love to hear from members who feel they have something to contribute.

📩 How to apply
Please email your nomination to [email protected], including:
- Your full name and membership number.
- The names and membership numbers of two Full Members who will propose and second your nomination.
- A short statement (maximum 150 words) introducing yourself and explaining why you'd like to become a Trustee.
- A completed Trustee Declaration of Eligibility form.
📄 Trustee Declaration Form: Contact the Secretary to request a copy of the form.
Prefer to apply by post? Contact the Secretary for the postal address.
All nominations will be acknowledged. If you don't receive an acknowledgement, please follow up with the Secretary.
Don't have a proposer or seconder? Please don't let that put you off! Get in touch with the Secretary, who can help you with the nomination process.

Whether your strengths lie in sheep breeding, conservation, communications, events, administration, or simply bringing fresh ideas and enthusiasm, there could be a place for you on the Board.
