The farm extends to approximately 260 acres and we produce mainly beef and sheep. Our Bluefaced Leicester sheep flock was established almost 30 years ago when we purchased 2 ewes from David Pritchard (Castellau Flock) in the early nineties. We then joined the society in 1995 having bought a Hazelwood Ewe Lamb in 1998, which won the Royal Welsh in 2003, (her Ram Lamb was Champion Male and made 2,20
0 gns at the NSA Ram Sale). In 2009, we purchased Shewbridge A69 which was placed in the Royal Welsh (2 of her daughters later won at the Royal Welsh as a Ewe Lamb and a Ram Lamb and sold to Robleston for 1,000 gns who later was sold as a 4 year old for 4,000 gns to Ashes and Burndale who produced the Champion at Royal Highland Show in 2016 and 2018. Our most notable achievements include winning the Breed Championship in 2003, and selling our homebred Ram “Bonvilston K30” at the NSA Wales & Border Ram Sales in 2018 for 12,000 guineas (£12,600) and saw him top the show and sale of some 5,000 animals. K30, by G2 Cendy out of a homebred ewe, had been shown earlier in the summer, taking the overall Championship at the Welsh Progeny Show. We also run a small flock of unregistered pure bred Suffolk sheep which our grandchildren enjoy breeding, handling and showing throughout the summer months at our local shows.
