Too early to talk "Christmas Dinner"..?
Not, if like us you are a "planner" and like to start thinking about the big day well in advance. Planning & preparation is key to a stress free day, here are our top tips to help with yours...
1. Plan Your Menu in Advance
Choose a mix of family favorites and easy-to-make dishes.
Consider dietary restrictions or preferences among guests.
Stick to recipes you’re comfortable with, but feel free to add one or two new items for a bit of excitement.
Don't forget to order your HERBiT blends to add to your recipes!
2. Prep in the Days Leading Up
Chop vegetables, make sauces, and even pre-cook some side dishes the day before.
Desserts like puddings or pies can often be made well in advance, saving you time on the day.
3. Set a Realistic Timeline
Plan out cooking times and oven space. Remember, larger dishes (like a turkey) take longer, so know what order things need to go in.
Use a timer or set alarms on your phone to keep track of cooking times.
4. Delegate Tasks
Don’t try to do everything alone! Have someone help with setting the table, pouring drinks, or watching dishes as they cook.
5. Organize Your Space
Clear your countertops and organize your kitchen so that it’s easy to grab ingredients and utensils.
Set the table early and add festive decorations for a lovely atmosphere.
6. Serve Drinks & Appetizers Early
Offer a welcome drink and appetizers when guests arrive. It keeps everyone happy while you finish up in the kitchen.
7. Cook What You Can in Advance
Consider dishes that can be made ahead and reheated, like casseroles, stuffing, and gravy.
Gravy can even be made a few days in advance and kept in the fridge.
8. Focus on Presentation
Simple garnishes can elevate dishes and make them look extra festive. Fresh herbs, citrus slices, or a dusting of powdered sugar on desserts can go a long way.
Sprinkle some of our HERBiT blends over your food before serving, to elevate the aroma and flavour.
9. Relax and Enjoy
Guests will appreciate a relaxed host. So, even if a dish doesn’t come out perfectly, remember it’s about the experience and being together.
Keep a sense of humor and enjoy the meal with everyone.
With these tips in place, your Christmas dinner is sure to be a delightful, memorable meal for everyone involved.
