I’m delighted to finally share that A Singapore Story Supper Club will open for bookings this Sunday.

On 26th September Saturday, Jade’s Dinner Table comes to The Ardagh Community Trust for an intimate dining experience shaped by the flavours, memories and stories of Singapore — thoughtfully reimagined through my culinary perspective.

The evening will unfold with a welcome drink and amuse-bouche, followed by a four-course Singapore-inspired menu. An optional four-glass wine pairing, thoughtfully curated to complement the menu, will also be available. Details of the menu will be announced on Sunday.

I’m so grateful to The Ardagh for welcoming Jade’s Dinner Table and hosting this special evening. ❤️

SATAY. You think you know it? 🇸🇬

If you’ve eaten satay in Bristol, you may already have an idea of what satay tastes like — often chicken skewers, peanut sauce and maybe a Malaysian label.

But satay isn’t one single dish.

As close neighbouring countries, Singapore and Malaysia share much of the same culinary heritage, but like most dishes, satays have their own character.

And Singapore satay is what I grew up with and it has something I especially want you to look out for… the layered flavours in every bite, grilled to perfection, accompanied by this delicious nutty aromatic peanut sauce.

So when you see Singapore Satay on one of my menus, don’t think “I’ve had satay before.”

Think: “I wonder what Singapore does differently?” 🇸🇬

✨ Bringing a taste of Singapore to a beautiful new venue. 🇸🇬

When contacted me in early July to explore the possibility of bringing Jade’s Straits Kitchen to The Ardagh , I was intrigued.

Then we visited this gorgeous space — nestled in the heart of Horfield Common, surrounded by beautiful gardens and with such a wonderful community spirit — and we knew it would be a great place to share my food.

The Ardagh is so much more than a venue. It’s a community hub where people come together over food, events, gardens and shared experiences, with the café’s profits being reinvested into the local community. It felt like a natural fit for what I’m trying to create with Jade’s Straits Kitchen. ❤️

So, on Saturday 12 September, we’ll be bringing a little taste of Singapore to The Café on the Common at The Ardagh.

🥩 Beef Rendang — rich, aromatic and slow-cooked
🌿 Tauhu Goreng — crispy tofu with my delicious homemade satay sauce
🥟 Crispy Wontons — golden, crunchy and full of flavour

It’s all part of what I’ve always wanted Jade’s Straits Kitchen to be:
to share authentic Singaporean food and create memorable food experiences inspired by the flavours and heritage of Singapore.

And now, we’re bringing that to a beautiful new corner of Bristol. 🇸🇬✨

A night to remember. ❤️🇸🇬✨

Our Singapore Story Supper Club on Sunday, 23rd August, was everything I had hoped it would be — and more.

From the moment our guests arrived, the evening flowed beautifully. The food went out smoothly, the atmosphere was warm and relaxed, and most importantly, our guests were genuinely blown away by the flavours.

Hearing people talk about the dishes, discovering new flavours and asking when they could have more was incredibly special.

For me, this is what Jade’s Dinner Table is all about.

Sharing the food heritage I grew up with. Taking the flavours of Singapore and the Straits and reimagining them for a modern dining experience.
Creating a table where people feel welcomed, curious and completely immersed in the story behind the food.

And I honestly enjoyed every moment of it. ❤️

This one was truly a family affair.
A huge thank you to my family, Gabriel Esswood and Sam , for being by my side and helping me bring the evening to life. Having them there made the night even more special.

And a very special thank you to molly.bates from The Baffled King for her wonderful help, support and energy throughout the evening. ❤️

Thank you Chef Luke for trusting me with his kitchen. I feel so lucky to be given this opportunity! 🙌

Thank you also to The Baffled King for hosting us and giving Jade’s Dinner Table such a wonderful home for this Singapore Story Supper Club.

Some culinary journeys begin with a book.

Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential has been on my shelf for years, but my love for his work really began watching his travel shows on television — watching him eat his way through the world, meeting people, discovering cultures and, most importantly, telling the stories behind the food.

I loved that he never seemed to simply visit a place. He wanted to understand it through its food and its people.

And then there’s this — an old Raffles Hotel Singapore Sling recipe.

My home. My memories. My reflections. 🇸🇬

Perhaps that’s what my own culinary journey has always been about:
looking outward, while carrying home with me.
