FoodNerd4Life Food Product Developer during the day and always being nerdy about dishes, products, recipes, cookery books and eating out. Nerd on! www.foodnerd4life.com

By day I work as a Food Product Developer for an awesome food company, where I’ve been working for the past 2 years after uni, meaning I get to come up with exciting new flavours and food products whilst wearing a sexy hair net and lab coat…oooohhh nice. Not quite a cape and mask. Luckily I’ve always been into cooking and fortunate enough to be encouraged my family and friends to cook and bake at

every opportunity, which meant I made and decorated my neighbours wedding cake when I was 13. I believe this is down to strong genes, from both my Grandma and Nanny, who were fantastic bakers and had much more patience when it came to making sugar cake decorations then I do! I have a passion for travelling and have been fortunate to go to some amazing places around the world and believe food and travel go hand in hand. Food is a great social tool, helps you learn of other cultures and history from it and believe it makes your cooking more diverse and you pick up some interesting cooking techniques along the way. The list of places I want to go to just keeps getting longer and longer though. I’ll try to include some recipes I’ve picked up along the way. Hope you enjoy my blog, I’ve just found it a nice place to put my recipes and to be in contact with other like minded foodies. Nerd On!

Recipe Rewind - Rio Flavoured Marshmallows. Sunny days are finally here! Bring on all the tropical flavours and turn up Club Tropicana! To celebrate getting some sun rays, I made a pillowy pile of Rio Flavoured Marshmallows. This recipe uses the tropical soft drink, Rio which is sparkling water with the natural fruit juices Orange, Guava, Apricot, Mango and Passion Fruit in place of the usual water in the marshmallow recipe base. This gives the marshmallows a lovely delicate tropical flavour with the natural juices coming through. They would be a great post-barbeque dessert with a fresh fruit platter or toasted over the cooling embers of the barbeque.

AD| INVITE I have had on my foodie wish list for a while to do my Level 1 Wine tasting qualification and so pleased I was invited to attend a course recently via food and drink campaign. Perfect for beginners or people with some wine knowledge. Going through the wine making process as well as tasting notes to pick up across various wines.
I particularly enjoyed the wine menu activity picking wines based on what we learnt about the grape origins and type as well as the wine and food pairing activity.
Not filmed the multiple choice exam at the end of the day for the certification. Great activity for anyone wanting to expand their wine knowledge. Cheers 🥂🥂

AD|invite Why settle for a big standard meal deal for lunch when you can have a lunch at ? 3 courses for £30 set lunch contains fan favourites such as the River Teign mussels, white wine & sobrasada to start, the hearty Rolled shoulder of Monmouth lamb, spring vegetables, watercress, anchovy gremolata, jus for a main and the stunning Tonka bean crème caramel, sea salt to finish- what’s not to love?? Trust me you’ll not want to go back to tuna mayo sarnies! Brilliant deal for such quality of ingredients and cooking, you’ll be making sure you’ve got every drop of sauce left.
I, of course, went rogue at lunch and couldn’t miss out on my COR favourites including the savoury canele with shallot, gorgonzola dolce, hazelnut butter, balsamic and of course the now very famous Orange and Nutmeg tiramisu as well as the new to the menu Jamón Ibérico, potato crisps, aged manchego- which I know will be an instant classic like the rest of COR’s dishes. Alongside with the utterly dreamy, Ashton Court venison tartare, anchovy, sourdough cracker, yolk!

Get yourself a spot for lunch and miss the sad sandwich!

With successfully completing their crowdfunding to secure some beautiful spaceship like Chinese charcoal ovens, Sunday roasts have gotten very exciting in Bristol.
The ovens manned expertly by for their six part series, it’s a booking you seriously don’t want to miss out on.
Me and went for the half roast duck served with master stock duck jus, deep and rich sauce with the most succulent duck meat and crisp skin.
We complimented the roast duck with the cured Cornish Seabass chiuchow salad with grapefruit, duck fat wonton noodles, soy brown butter charred greens, all complimented the roast duck beautifully and addictively. A standard roast dinner isn’t going to cut it anymore after this absolute beaut of a lunch.
You’ll want to still have a little room left for dessert with the refreshing lychee & rose Baijiu sorbet and the Longjing & matcha flan with bitter caramel- perfect way to end an excellent lunch.

Head to page to book your table as you won’t want to miss out and I’m heading back to try the Iberico brûléed char siu!
