Ubuntu Food fire feasts are an immersive creative space that tell the story of the season, and all the hands that made our feasts possible. A community gathering that celebrates our interconnected nature, and consciously curates memorable moments around the table for our guests✨💛

Join us for a unique celebration of Harvest Season The Barley Wood Café

Friday 7th August

Expect a menu that is led by what is grown in the surrounding gardens, complemented by locally sourced high welfare meat from farmers who advocate for resilience in the food system through the way that they work. Finished with seasonal sweet treat.

A collaborative feast that offers guests a chance to connect with the source of their food, slowing down in nature as they enjoy a field to fork feast from the fire 🔥

Barley Wood C***r will be open all evening

Layers upon layers of flavour cooked consciously over hot embers - our signature Braai Broodjies are a delicate balancing act served with house pickles and dipping sauce, that leave you wanting more!!!

But what goes into them?
🍑Spread of house Italian apricot preserve for sweetness
🧀combo of artisan cheeses specially selected to melt and bind flavours until dripping and sizzling on embers below - providing the goods
🍅🌿🧅slices of tomato, herb and sweet onion, seasoned liberally with black pepper
🥖🧄 wedged between freshly baked ciabatta basted and slow roasted in confit garlic oil, using traditional South African style grill baskets to manually turn over

Cedar plank smoked catch of the day 🎣

Excited to bring back one of our favourite and most requested seafood dishes to this years summer solstice gathering vineyard - Sunday 21st June

We select a beautiful fatty fish like wild salmon or sea trout/ rainbow trout which is first dry salt brined (this year we have made our own wild garlic salt rub), before nailing it to planks on a bed of aromatics and giving it the slow smoke treatment next to a bed of hot embers.

Guests will get to see it go from fire to table, alongside some of the best seasonal veg we can get our hands, all designed to compliment natural wines 🍷🔥

As always we try and strike the balance of curating events that are both accessible and ensuring we cover our costs to uphold a supply chain that is consistent with our ethics. We believe that fire feasts in nature should never be an elitist thing …

If you wish to attend but money is tight this year, we get it! In an attempt to support you we are offering a few subsidiary tickets at a 15% discount to those who need it. Please drop us a DM for the code if you are a new parent, work with the land/ in nature, hospitality, NHS, the arts OR you’re just in a bit of a pickle and need some delicious soul food as a pick me up - if this speaks to you let us know - we’d love to still have you at our table.
