Today we attended the Farm Open Day at Rumbleton and Fans Farm in the Scottish Borders, hosted by the East of Scotland Grassland Management Group.

It was a fantastic opportunity to visit two outstanding breeder-finisher units and see first-hand how these progressive farming businesses have successfully diversified into other industries within the sector which run smoothly along side their cattle enterprises.

A huge thank you to the hosts for sharing their knowledge, experience, and dedication. At Stoddarts, we're proud to work alongside farmers like these, whose hard work, innovation, and attention to detail continue to drive the industry forward.

Serious batch of prime homebred cattle in this week from the Mitchells at Rumbletonrig.

Simental x Saler and Saler x Simental cattle showing plenty of power, shape and performance. One standout bullock weighed 806kg at just 14.5 months old, killing out at 446kg, with the full group averaging 407kg deadweight 👌

A fantastic day spent out on farm in the beautiful Scottish Borders! 🌿🐄
Our new Account Manager, William, joined the procurement team on a series of farm visits to meet some of the dedicated farmers who supply us with exceptional cattle.
The farms we visited raise and finish their cattle entirely on their own land, meaning the animals remain on the same farm throughout their lives. They are cared for with compassion, free to roam, and reared to the highest standards of animal welfare and integrity—something we’re incredibly proud to support.
A huge thank you to James, Douglas, and Andy for giving us such a warm welcome and taking the time to show us around your farms. It was a pleasure to see firsthand the passion, commitment, and care that goes into producing outstanding livestock.
We’re looking forward to many more visits and continuing to build strong relationships with our farming community.
