Just when I thought I couldn’t be more gobsmacked it turns out my Danny Daly Picasso Grandson Obsidian is not only minimally marked Tobiano coloured also carrying a spot gene, I thought he would be black and he is shedding out to be either a sooty buckskin or a Smokey black too so he’s a dilute! I can’t wait for his entire gene and colour panel to come back next week. I was not expecting to see this under his foal coat now it’s shedding!

Petulengro. This big yearling c**t is something special!! I’ll be showing him myself next year when he turns 2. He’s the heaviest stepping cob I have ever seen! Had a 12 month fitness plan written specially for me to survive running in hand with him. With King Mervyn Of Radnor and Obsidian as well I’m truly blessed and grateful to have these 3 incredible c**ts from SD, Bullseye, Marley, Tonka, The Lob, Bob The Blagdon, Picasso, Batman and Diesel lines combined. All three insanely heavy and profusely feathered too. My Mares and fillies have Hugo Boss, Jimmy Mccann’s Black Legged Stallion, Lion King, Original Roadsweeper, Eddie Allcock’s Old Black Horse Of Ireland, Lloyds and Cosgrove blood combined. Excited about the future combining them all together for some world class Shantaine foals!

The feather on this yearling filly of mine is something else! Still shedding her winter coat and in her work clothes unbathed and not yet produced (just turned away to mature) and she still looks incredible! I could look at her all day🦄❤️👌🏻

Busy day gently handling some newly arrived unhandled yearling Gypsy Cob fillies legs and feet in preparation for the farrier. These are being added to the Shantaine herd as future breeding stock.

“Although I'm known for breeding Lovely extremely heavy and heavily feathered Gypsy Cobs under the Shantaine prefix I also breed lovely Part Breds too usually 50% Gypsy Cob with Welsh and Arabian blood to produce very pretty show and sport ponies/small horses.
Specifically bred for performance for those seeking an athletic sport pony with Shantaine blood. I have no issue with this as it leaves my very heavy pure bred stock exactly as they should be heavy solid driving cobs from the old lines the exact stamp they should be of 30 years ago, but also shows the versatility of the breed temperament wise when crossed skilfully with the right finer mares to produce sport or show ponies and horses when needed or requested to produce in essence warmbloods.
The two coloured foals here, one was by Idriss The Dragon, the other by Shantaine Idriss (His son) and the buckskin was by Midoak Mardi Gras.” - Gemma Brookes
