🌱 August at The Mump

What a month it’s been! From growing and harvesting in the market garden, to planning the very first Mump Fest, August has been a busy one all while battling a tough month financially with the road closure.

We’ve battled a few heatwaves ☀️, kept the veg growing, harvested what we could, and made a start on something we’ve been really excited about: our new volunteer programme 🤝🌱

It’s been brilliant welcoming people onto the farm, sharing skills, getting stuck into the growing, and building a little community around the garden.

And in between it all… there’s been plenty of festival planning going on behind the scenes 👀🎶

Here’s a little look at what we’ve been up to throughout August. Thanks to everyone who’s helped, volunteered, supported, shopped and followed along this month ❤️

On 19th September, we’re opening up The Mump for a day of live music, food, circus cabaret, farm tours, activities and good times. 🎪🎶🌱

🌱 Thinking about growing beans?

Beans are actually pretty easy to grow, but there’s one thing we’d recommend thinking about before you get started: the infrastructure!

If you’re a beginner, you might want to leave beans until your 2nd or 3rd year of growing. The plants themselves are simple enough, but building a strong enough support system for them to climb can be a little more tricky.

In this video, we’re sharing how we grow ours and what we’ve learnt along the way.

Because sometimes it’s not the plant that’s the hard bit… it’s keeping the thing standing! 🫘🌱
