𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫 | Meet Adam 👋
Mowi is proud to be feeding a nation, our teams are out all seasons all weathers, here we meet one of our farmers, Adam and learn about his role and career journey …..

❓What do you do at Mowi ?
🐟I am one of the Site Assistant Managers at Torridon, helping oversee the day-to-day running of the farm and supporting the team to maintain high standards of fish welfare and health and safety.

❓What is your career journey?
🎓After leaving the Merchant navy when I was 16, I went to work at a freshwater hatchery. I worked there for 6 years, gaining a lot of knowledge and experience in aquaculture, but then I wanted to learn more about the industry. So, I joined the marine sector. During my 19 years in fish farming, I have worked as a boat skipper, net washing supervisor, health observer and now in management.

❓What do you like most about your job?
🧡I absolutely love being on the water and working out at sea. Definitely helps that we work at such a picturesque location.

❓What do you think would surprise people the most about aquaculture?
🤔I think a lot of people don’t realise how technical and intricate our job is in Aquaculture. There are so many variables that make it a very challenging industry. Especially with weather and environmental conditions, it takes a lot of responsibility and skill to perform our job.

❓What advice would you give someone wishing to make a career in aquaculture?
⁉️If you are willing to learn and work hard with a good positive attitude there are a lot of different opportunities within the company and industry. Never be afraid to ask questions and Get stuck in!

❓Who would be your ideal dinner guest and what salmon dish would you make them
🍣My ideal dinner guest would be either Sir Anthony Hopkins and/ or Keanu Reeves.
I would prepare a sushi dish and my famous gravadlax. And maybe with a glass of Chianti…

𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧 | Despite the less-than-perfect weather 🌧️, we had an amazing time at the Rosyth Gala last weekend and were blown away by the support from the local community.

We’re thrilled to say we sold out of all our salmon (thank you!) and raised £900 for The Rosyth Gala Rosyth Eats 🎉💙

It was great chatting to so many people, some of whom were trying salmon for the first time, and others who told us they visit the wagon every year at the event. Queen Elsa dropped in past to say hello, and the smell of the delicious salmon even attracted the attention of a passing dinosaur 🦖🤭

A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered their time, or stopped by for some salmon, and helped make the day such a success – drizzle and all! 🙌

𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦 | A milestone has been reached at Mowi’s new high-energy farm on South Uist. Following planning permission being granted in December 2024, the team has been busy preparing Stulaigh South to receive its first salmon.

“Mowi operates in some very remote and often fragile communities across the Western Isles, and it’s vital that we have committed and passionate staff at our farms,” says Ben Hadfield, COO Farming Scotland. “I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has worked so hard to get Stulaigh South up and running, helping us supply more healthy and nutritious salmon for the nation.

“This new farm has been developed with fish health and welfare at front of mind, and we also hope it will play a key part in local employment and community development, helping to strengthen the local economy of the Outer Hebrides.”
