We are pleased to be taking part on this project to help developing stronger and healthier local and ecological food networks, another step towards food soverignty and community resilience.

Regional Food Hubs Support Programme – The 12 Hubs!

We’re excited to reveal the twelve Regional Food Hubs that will be taking part in our 12-month support programme – run in collaboration with Sustain: The Alliance For Better Food And Farming, the Soil Association, Growing Communities and Sustainable Food Places.

Through targeted training and support, the programme aims to help these hubs grow their wholesale operations and increase supply to public institutions.

As well as providing direct support to the hubs, it’s our ambition that the programme can also help build knowledge for Sustainable Food Places and the wider sustainable food sector.

We are very grateful to for recognising the importance of strengthening regional supply chains and for funding this year-long programme of support.

I felt honoured to be asked to record an interview with James from for the earlier in the spring. It's good to reflect on the last 14 years. It's been pretty up and down, as it always will be with market gardening on marginal land, but overall, it gives us the opportunity to live in a beautiful place and be connected to nature in a meaningful way. It can be completely frustrating at times but incredibly rewarding too.

The key to making it work for us is at least attempting to get some sort of balance - not only with the crops we grow, the way we grow and the sales outlets, but also with taking time out of the market garden, spending time doing something completely different. For us, that mainly involves football and cricket - the kids have got us back into playing, and also involved in helping to coach. In those moments it is a complete distraction from the veg growing, which can otherwise be all consuming. Kids are definitely a good way of putting all the stress into perspective.
