✨ We’re finally on Facebook! ✨

We’re Sarah & Kieran — the duo behind SKEATs Cardiff (Sarah & Kieran Eat Cardiff) 🍽️
What started as a fun little hobby back in 2022 (just two food lovers dating, eating out constantly, and sneaking in holidays every other weekend 🤭) has grown into something much bigger and something we love so much!!

Fast forward to 2025… we’ve got a house, a dog, a baby, and a wedding on the horizon for 2026 💍🐶👶 Life may look different now, but our love for food (and sharing it with you) is still going strong! 🤪

These days we’re not just finding Cardiff & South Wales’ best foodie gems — we’re also on the look out for the top dog-friendly spots, baby-friendly days out, and even the occasional soft play adventure 👶🏼🍼😆

Is this the best fish and chips in south wales???👀😱

We certainly think so! The next time you’re craving some fish and chips, be sure to visit Fish Kitchen 1931.

Serving up everything from cod, to battered sausages and even burgers and DEEP FRIED OREOS?! 😱 🍫Fish Kitchen have put incredible time into sharing the history of Welsh mining, dedicating 6 seating booths with TVs to different collieries from Wales’ rich mining past.

Kieran being a sucker for history was in his element as we tucked in to a fantastic selection of what Fish Kitchen restaurant has to offer!

The Fish Kitchen Works dish IS THE BEST FISH AND CHIPS DISH WE’VE EVER HAD - NO QUESTION 🤭🤭

We dare you to find better in South Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 . This masterpiece was served alongside a fruity curry sauce, ham hock mushy peas 😮‍💨 and the staple Tartare sauce.

Extra sauces included two varieties of curry sauce and Kieran’s favourite - GRAVY🤤

Fish Kitchen caters for all, and we also found out that you can book the booths for any Wales matches and catch the game with some fish and chips and a pint of cruzcampo in hand 😍

We promise you that this Fish and chips is incredible get down there ASAP 🐟🍟

Bistro 8 - Blackwood

If you have been following us for a while, you’ll know we are HUGE fans of Bistro 8. We have been countless times and every single time it just seems to get better!! 😍

We usually have their famous Sunday roasts which are always fully booked months in advance (because they are the best in South Wales) and they are always so so good so we wanted to try their normal menu to see if it lived up to the Sunday specials 👀 I can confirm they absolutely did!!!

Their chefs are definitely super talented as it’s a big varied menu and every dish we tried was insane!

Starters:
Creamy Garlic Mushrooms 🍄

Cajun Halloumi Fries 🍟

Cheesy Leeks 🧀

Mains
Welsh Lamb Rump with Sauteed Peas & Bacon Lardons, Buttery Mash & Red Wine Jus 🐑

Med Chicken - Grilled Chicken With Smoked Austrian Cheese, Mediterranean Vegetables, Hasselback Potatoes & Garlic Sauce Split with Basil Oil (my favourite dish of the day!!! 😍)

Famous Cheesy Loaf - you can’t go to Bistro 8 without ordering this famous side!!! 🧀🍞

Im always a savoury over sweet kinda gal HOWEVER, the dessert menu at Bistro 8 is something out of Charlie and the chocolate factory…literally Augustus Gloop’s dream 🤣 I never know what to choose as they all sound so good..hence why we chose three 🐷

Be sure to book ahead if you do fancy going as it gets fully booked super quick as it is SO POPULAR!!!

Have we just found the best steak restaurant in South Wales?!

La Luna is in Talbot Green..right opposite the retail park! It’s really easy to get to from Cardiff and only took us around 15/20 minutes 🙌🏼

We opted for a starter and main from the specials menu so we went for:

Starters:
🐟Crispy Calamari, fried salmon and haddock

Mains:
🥩 Chateaubriand Sharing board - WOW WOW WOW this was a SHOWSTOPPER!!! It came with Mac N Cheese, Triple cooked chunky chips, salad and mushrooms!

Desserts:
🍫 Chocolate Dripping Pot with strawberries, doughnuts and marshmallows
🍰 Cheesecake - this was probably one of the nicest cheesecakes we’ve ever eaten 🤤

La Luna is the perfect spot for a date night or a celebratory meal!

We can’t wait to go back again and try more of their delicious menu 🔥
