Meals on Wheels Cumbria

22/10/2026

It's been a while since we've posted a photo of our Meals on Wheels Cumbria venue on Shady Grove Road in Carlisle. This is where our meals are prepared, cooked and picked up by our wonderful volunteer teams to take out to our customers each day. We have spaces for both customers and volunteers at the moment - if you, or someone you know, struggle to cook or you could help us with volunteering get in touch on 01228 267167.

We'd like to say a big thank you to the Randal Foundation who have generously supported our volunteer mileage by donating to Meals on Wheels Cumbria! This will allow 12,600 miles to be covered by our volunteers as they make 8,400 visits with hot meals over a two-month period! Thank you!

This may cause some debate... is it ever too early?

What do our volunteers value most? Our lovely customers... just as it should be!

Picture shows the following text: "What do you value most about Meals on Wheels Cumbria? Meeting lovely customers." A quote from one of our volunteers.

Our trusty thermal boxes at the ready! They work hard to keep our meals fresh and hot as they journey from our kitchens to our friendly volunteers and then to our customers doors.

Thank you for all the food donations over this harvest season - they are much appreciated!

Thank you for these kind words received from the family of one of our customers. We are so grateful for our volunteers, and know what a difference they make. If you could help us by volunteering for a few hours a week, get in touch: 01228 267167 or www.mealsonwheelscumbria.org

The picture shows kind words from a card we received saying to "all the volunteers at Meals on Wheels Cumbria, we just wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU for all you have done for Dad over the last year. It is so kind of you all to give your time and energy to provide this service which has definitely enabled Dad to stay in his own home for longer than he would have been able."

Could you help us? We need volunteer drivers to help take our vital meals out.

We are looking for volunteer drivers to join our wonderful team - if you have a car and are able to help, even for a few hours a week, we'd love to hear from you.

Mileage paid.
Rounds usually leave our centre at Shady Grove Road Carlisle at 11am Mon-Fri.

Call 01228 267167 or email [email protected] for more information. We'd love to hear from you!
