This year Song Kran Festival on 13-15 April and every 14 April is family day as well so normally people will be together with family. I remember before I moved to Scotland every 14 April we were with big family about 50 people at least and we poured water on hand for my grandny. It was lovely time and happy time together. I got some photos from Song kran Festival before covid. I love song kran, good fun.

Thank you very much to our customer tonight.

Happy Song Kran Festival. Happy Thai New Year. We wish you have happiness, good health , succeed and good luck. May all my merits I have done go to you and blessing you all. Sawasdee Pee Mai Thai. 🙏🙏🙏
For traditional we do :
Make a merit, pour water to the Buddha statue , the monk and elderly or parents or older persons who we love to apologise if we did something wrong to them and let them blessing us as well. Then we splash water to each other for good fun because in Thailand is hot weather on this time. My kids asked me "Can we play splash water today at Scotland?" I replied to them : Just on hand will be lovely but not splash all. It will be cold. 😄

This has been posted before however, it might be useful for anyone new to the area... Leitholm (pronounced Leitolm, the H is silence), in no particular order, has: - two Royal Mail post-boxes. One is in the middle of the Village near the phone-box. The other is ‘hidden’ in a wall towards the west end of the Village. Shelia, our regular postie, accepts mail to post when delivering within reason. Mail generally gets delivered and collected around 12.30pm. - a BT phone-box. - two defibrillator with 24/7 access. One is on the outside of the Plough Inn, one on the outside the Village Hall. - no parking restrictions for on-street parking with the exception of one designated Disabled Space on Main Street, up towards the Village Hall. - a Playpark in the centre of the Village. - a lovely, well-maintained Village Hall which is managed by a Committee, all volunteers. In addition to regular activities and events the Hall can be hired for a party, meeting, sale, etc. Check out the Events tab on the Leitholm Village Hall page. Leitholm Village Hall - a Leitholm Village Hall 100 Club which is a fund-raiser towards the upkeep of the Village Hall. A monthly draw, with three cash prizes - £30, £20 and £10 – for the numbers picked, generally takes place on the last day of the month. It costs £1.50 per number per month, usually paid yearly in Sep/Oct ie £18 per year per number or pro rata if joining after October. To join speak with Helen Renton on 07989 744662. - two community noticeboards - one by the Playpark, one outside the Village Hall. Lynne Bilton holds the keys. - several businesses, although there may be more: - Katie’s Border Cottages – Newton Cottage and The Cottage aka Leitholm Cottage (holiday lets) www.katiesbordercottages.com Katie's Border Cottages - Knots & Barley Knots & Barley - KRJ Construction www.krjconstruction.com KRJ Construction - Leitholm ltd. Inc KRJ Joinery Contractors - Sook Sook Thai Kitchen by Puy Sook Sook Thai Kitchen by Puy - The Plough Inn Leitholm The Plough Inn Leitholm www.theploughinnleitholm.co.uk - several services that visit the Village - a milkman or two, butcher, fishmonger (weekly), Ringtons, SBC mobile library (every three weeks) and RBS mobile bank (Thursdays 12:10-12:30), window cleaner (Carlos Rola and his team approx. every five weeks - 07872 950555). - a branch of the SWI (Scottish Women’s Institute aka the Rural) which, pre-CV19, met on the 2nd Wednesday, except during the summer holidays, at 7pm in the Village Hall. They welcomed new members and visitors. Meetings have not yet restarted. - an annual domino tournament on New Year’s Day held in the Village Hall. - services in the Kirk, in Church Lane, every 2nd and 4th Sundays at 9.45am with the bells being rung beforehand at 9.30am. - an annual short Remembrance service at the Leitholm Memorial, at the west end of the Village, following the service in the Kirk. - Bughtrig Gardens, just outside the Village at the east end, are open June-August as part of Scotland’s Gardens. https://scotlandsgardens.org/bughtrig - household bin collections – general waste (landfill) and recycling. The correct bin must be out on the kerbside by 7am on collection day with the lid closed. Leitholm’s Main Street is a wind tunnel so be careful which way the lid is facing as the wind has been known to open the bins. Check collection dates on www.scotborders.gov.uk/bincollections Garden waste is not collected and needs to be taken to one of the Council’s recycling centres. Our nearest ones are in Kelso and Duns. Glass is not collected. There are bottle banks at the Coal Road, east end of the Village. - representatives on the Community Council for Eccles, Birgham and Leitholm.
