Another decent uk brewery messed up by yet another big foreign concern.

Sharp's Brewery is going the way of the dinosaurs at last. Not a huge surprise to anyone, I don't think, but Molson Coors have confirmed that production will end in Rock at the end of this year. This news was first announced at the start of the year, so I think it is a confirmed date that has caused it to resurface.
They bought Sharp's in 2011 but the brewery itself is no longer viable, according to their calculations and consultations. This is due to "changing consumer tastes and ongoing challenges facing the cask ale market." Brewing of the Sharp's cask brands will move to Camerons Brewery, according to reports. Keg and bottle/can continues unabated at Burton and Tadcaster.
Of course, Doom Bar was the country's top selling cask brand for a number of years, recently overtaken by Timothy Taylor's Landlord. The pint in the picture is actually Sharp's Solar Wave, but in a Doom Bar glass. We don't tend to take dinosaurs out with us as regularly anymore, so **rs has taken a bit of a hiatus in recent times.
