FOODS FOR MOOD – TIP 5: MAGNESIUM 💛

Good morning! 😊
Today I’m talking about magnesium — a mineral that often gets overlooked, but is really important for our bodies, including our nervous system and normal brain function. 🧠💚
Rather than thinking about supplements first, I always think it’s worth looking at how we can get more goodness from the foods we eat.
Some lovely magnesium-rich foods include:
🌰 Pumpkin seeds, almonds and cashews
🥬 Spinach and other leafy green vegetables
🫘 Lentils, chickpeas and beans
🥑 Avocado
🌾 Oats, brown rice and other wholegrains
🍫 And yes… even a little dark chocolate! 😋
One of my favourite easy ideas is to add some seeds to your breakfast or have a small handful of nuts as a snack. Nothing complicated — just little changes that can help us nourish ourselves well.
And, of course, there isn’t one particular food that will magically fix our mood. But giving our bodies the nutrients they need is an important part of looking after ourselves. ❤️
So, what’s your favourite magnesium-rich food?
I’d love to hear your ideas! 👇

TIP 4 – FOOD FOR MOOD 💛

PLEASE DON'T IGNORE VITAMIN D!

In the last two months I've looked at the blood results of 16 people — clients, friends and relatives — and every single one had low vitamin D.

That is quite a wake-up call.

In the UK, our winter sunlight simply isn't strong enough for most of us to make enough vitamin D. The NHS recommends 10µg (400 IU) a day during autumn and winter for most adults.

Vitamin D is important for our bones and muscles — and when we're talking about Food for Mood, it's certainly something worth considering if you're struggling with low mood or SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder)

🐟 Eat: oily fish, egg yolks 🍳 and fortified foods.

💊 Consider: a simple 10µg vitamin D supplement.

🩸 Ask: whether a vitamin D test is appropriate when you next have blood tests.

Don't ignore the D! ☀️💛

And please remember — more isn't better. Don't take high doses without professional advice.

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. We should never get to the stage of feeling thirsty. Dehydration can make us feel irritable and tired🥤☕️.
