🥃 Introducing the newest addition to the Whey Aye portfolio — 12-year-old Tomatin!

I’m delighted to bring this Highland single malt wh**ky into the range.

Matured for 12 years in a refill Oloroso sherry hogshead and bottled at 48.5% ABV, it has a deep mahogany colour and a wonderfully rich flavour profile.

Think raisins, Christmas pudding, chocolate-coated Turkish delight and a hint of cinder toffee, all wrapped up in a velvety-smooth, luxurious dram.

It’s also non-chill filtered and natural colour.

🥃 This Friday at the Whey Aye Wh**ky Club — a Benromach vertical tasting.

This week we’re tasting four different Benromach single malts and looking at how age, cask maturation and production methods can influence the character of the wh**ky.

The lineup includes:

🥃 Benromach 10 Year Old
Matured in first-fill Sherry and bourbon casks, with forest fruits, creamy malt and a touch of smoke.

🥃 Benromach Contrasts: High Enzyme
A 12-year-old expression matured in first-fill bourbon casks, made using unpeated, high-enzyme malted barley. Expect citrus, pineapple, honeycomb, jasmine and peppermint.

🥃 Benromach 12 Year Old
Matured exclusively in first-fill Sherry casks, with rich fruitcake, warming spice, black pepper and a touch of smoke.

🥃 Benromach 15 Year Old
Matured in first-fill Sherry and bourbon casks, with cracked pepper, dark chocolate, forest fruits and soft smoke.

All four come from Benromach Distillery in Forres, Speyside, making this a great opportunity to explore the different styles and characteristics within the Benromach range. 🥃

🥃 A little look back at the Indy Love Wh**ky Festival.

On the 18th & 19th September, we had a fantastic couple of days at the Assembly Rooms in Newcastle for the Indy Love Wh**ky Festival.

It was great to meet so many wh**ky lovers, make some new contacts and share the Whey Aye range with everyone who came along.

We were delighted to sell out of our Port Cask Finished Rum and also sell some of our 22-year-old Craigellachie single malt wh**ky during the event.

We still have plenty of our Red W**e Cask Finished Rum and 22-year-old Craigellachie wh**ky available, so if you missed us at the festival, you can still find out more online.

A big thank you to Karl Glenn and his team of volunteers for putting on such a well-organised event, and to everyone who came to see us, had a chat, tasted our spirits or took something home.

Our Dominican Red W**e Cask Finished Rum has a distinctive profile, with juicy red w**e character, hints of toffee and a little dryness and tannin coming through on the finish.

🥃 A little look at the main event — our 22-year-old single malt Scotch wh**ky.

Distilled at Craigellachie Distillery in Speyside, Scotland, and matured for 22 years, this is a proper characterful dram.

Light pinewood in colour, with tropical fruit, lemon zest and a hint of to***co on the nose. On the palate, grilled pineapple, lemon rind, bitter grapefruit and barley sugars, followed by a full-bodied, warming finish.

🥃 A little look at one of our new rum releases.

This is our 5-year-old rum, finished in a Dominican Port cask.

The Port cask brings plenty of fruity character, with fresh hedgerow fruit notes and a lovely warming, juicy finish.

We currently have 11 bottles left from the first batch.

Two very different expressions of Whey Aye. 🥃

Our two 5-year-old rums, each finished in a different Dominican cask, giving them their own character and flavour profile.

🍇 Port Cask Finish
Fruity and fresh on the nose, with hedgerow fruits such as blueberries and raspberries on the palate. The finish is warming, juicy and pleasantly long.

🍷 Red W**e Cask Finish
A more powerful and distinctive profile, with red w**e and toffee coming through on the palate. It starts juicy before developing a little dryness and tannic character on the finish.

Both are easy sippers, but with two very different personalities.

11 bottles of each are currently available, with additional stock potentially becoming available around the upcoming festival.

A wh**ky with Scottish heritage, a personal story, and a Northumbrian setting. 🥃🌾

Our original Whey Aye release — a 22-year-old Single Malt Scotch Wh**ky, distilled at Craigellachie Distillery in Scotland.

Barley is one of the key ingredients in Scotch wh**ky, beginning a journey that eventually becomes the dram we know and love. While this wh**ky’s origins are firmly in Scotland, we wanted to photograph it here in the Northumbrian landscape — a place that is a big part of the Whey Aye story.

22 years of maturation have gone into this wh**ky, and we’re proud to have it as the release that started the Whey Aye journey.

From a distillery in Scotland to a barley field in Northumberland — two places, connected by a love of wh**ky. 🥃🌾
