WE’RE BACK ❤️
I didn’t quite expect our summer holiday to end like this.
On Monday night, a few of our customers messaged me asking if it was true that we were closing down. Someone had created and shared a fake image of our deli with a huge “CLOSING DOWN” sign across the shutters.
I’ll admit, my heart sank. I cried. I was sad.
I’m sure whoever made it probably didn’t think much of it — maybe it was meant as a joke (hopefully). But it did make me think about how easy it has become to create something completely false (and apparently send us back in time to 2024 😂).
AI can be incredible and used in so many brilliant ways, but just because you can create something, doesn’t always mean you should.
Behind a small business there are real people. Years of hard work, staff, livelihoods, bills, slightly temperamental fridges 😂 and a whole community behind that shopfront.
So, just a little reminder to think about the human impact before creating or sharing something about a real person or business.
And, most importantly…
WE ARE VERY MUCH NOT CLOSING DOWN ❤️
Summer break is over, we are reopening, the fridges are slowly filling up, and we cannot wait to see all your faces again this weekend.
