Cwmbran Centre for Young People To provide the young people of Torfaen with the support and assistance they need to achieve their goal

Cwmbran Centre for Young People (‘CCYP’) is a friendly and welcoming ‘Training Facility and Drop in Centre’ for young people. We offer a wide range of training, services and activities to support young people to develop life skills and gain qualifications. CCYP particularly supports Young People who are unemployed, living alone or homeless, alcohol/drug dependent, young parents, carers or offenders and/or have high levels of behavioural issues/emotional problems. The Centre provides recreational, educational and social activities, information and support including counselling and mentoring. When planning delivery of our Youth Work provision, we follow the seven core aims for children and young people provided by the Welsh Government adopted from the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). We also ensure our provision is based upon the Five Pillars of Youth Work in Wales. (Provide learning opportunities that are Educative, Expressive, Participative, Inclusive and Empowering). OUR VISION:
Whatever you need, we’ll help you get it, whatever you want to achieve, we’ll help you do it and when you do, we’ll help you celebrate it! OUR MISSION:
To provide the Young People of Torfaen with the support and assistance they need to achieve their goals. Our Aims & Objectives:
Centre
• To create a Framework to meet the needs of all young people.
• To ensure equal opportunities.
• To enable participation in learning experiences which will enable young people to fulfill their potential as empowered individuals and members of groups and communities.
• To involve young people in part of the decision making process in the centre.
• To provide training/education for any young person and to support those who require support, guidance or personal development.
• To be aware of the health and development needs of staff and clients.

Last week, theJuniors had lots of fun while helping us raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support! 💚

Throughout the evening, they got involved in:
🎱 Bingo
🍪 Cookie decorating
🎂 A cardboard cake competition
☕ Coffee painting

It was lovely to see everyone getting involved, having fun and helping us support such an important cause.

A huge well done to all of the Juniors for getting stuck in and making the evening such good fun! 💚

Which activity do you think you would’ve been best at? 👀😂 Let us know in the comments!

💙 A MASSIVE THANK YOU! 💙

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came together to support our young parent-to-be.

The response to our appeal was absolutely amazing, and every donation has been greatly appreciated. Everything donated will definitely be put to good use and will make such a difference. 💙

To everyone who donated — thank you so much! And to everyone who reached out and offered items, we are just as grateful for your kindness and willingness to help.

💙 WE ARE NO LONGER IN NEED OF ANY FURTHER DONATIONS 💙

Thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone who supported our appeal, our young parent-to-be now has all the items they need. We are therefore no longer accepting any further donations for this appeal.

It has been lovely to see so many people in our community come together to support a young person when they need it most.

So, from everyone here at CCYP…

THANK YOU! 💙

💙 A massive thank you! 💙

We have had an overwhelming response to our recent post asking for baby items for a young person we are supporting.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has reached out and offered to donate. The kindness and generosity shown by our community has been amazing, and we are incredibly grateful for all of the support. 💙

For the time being, we will be pausing the acceptance of any further donations while we sort through the items that have already been donated and offered.

Once we have had a chance to go through everything, we will let you know if there are any items still needed.

Thank you again to everyone who has donated, shared the post or offered their support. It really does make a difference. 💙

👶 BABY ITEMS NEEDED 🍼

We’re currently supporting a young person who is expecting a baby in November, and we’re hoping our wonderful community may be able to help with some of the essentials they still need. 💙

👶 Changing mat✅
💤 Baby bouncer
🌙 Baby sleeping bags
🤱 Baby carrier✅
🛁 Baby bath
🎒 Changing bag ✅

👕 0–3 month clothes✅
📹 Baby monitor

If you have any of these items in good, clean condition that you no longer need and would be happy to donate, please get in touch with us directly.

Every donation, big or small, will help this young person get prepared and make sure baby has everything they need when they arrive. 💙

Please share to help us spread the word!

A massive thank you to Wes Cunliffe, who came into the centre on Friday to speak with our Seniors about the realities and risks surrounding county lines and knife crime.

The young people engaged really well throughout the session and took away some really important messages and knowledge.

Thank you again to Wes for taking the time to come in and speak with our young people. We hope to work together again soon! 😊 Wesley Owen Cunliffe

Tonight the Juniors put their engineering skills to the test with our Egg Drop Challenge 🥚🪂 followed by a Paper Aeroplane Competition ✈️

There was plenty of designing, building, testing and a few dramatic egg landings along the way 😂

Well done to everyone who got involved, and a huge congratulations to our winners! 🏆👏

📢 LOST PROPERTY

Over the past few weeks, we’ve had quite a few items left behind at the centre — and our lost property pile is getting a little out of hand 😅

Please could everyone share this post around so we can hopefully reunite everything with its owners!

If you recognise anything that belongs to you or your young person, please pop into the centre or send us a message to arrange collection.

⚠️ Any items that haven’t been collected within the next week will be donated where possible or disposed of.

Please have a look and help us work out whose is whose! 💙

Last night, the Juniors got stuck in — quite literally — making their own slime! 🧪😂

We’re not actually sure who enjoyed it more… the young people, the staff, or the volunteers! There was slime everywhere, plenty of laughs, and definitely a bit of mess.

But hey, messy play is important… right? 😅💙
