🌺 A sea of colour between the vines isn't just beautiful — it's a sign that nature is doing some of the heavy lifting.

This stunning display of poppies is more than just a beautiful sight.

Poppies are known as a pioneer species, often appearing where ground has been disturbed. They establish quickly and form part of a diverse cover crop community that brings multiple benefits to the vineyard.

As well as helping to suppress w**ds, their roots can help cycle nutrients from deeper soil layers, while their flowers provide valuable habitat and food sources for insects.

As regenerative vineyard management develops over time, other flowering species join the mix, increasing biodiversity and creating a richer ecosystem both above and below ground. We're proud to see regenerative approaches gaining momentum across the industry, including the work being championed by The Regenerative Viticulture Foundation

It's a reminder that some of the most effective vineyard management tools are the ones nature provides.

From Frost to Heatwave: Supporting Vineyard Recovery

With the UK now in the grip of a heatwave, it’s easy to forget that just a couple of weeks ago many vineyards were dealing with damaging frost events. These rapid swings highlight the challenges of modern vineyard management—and the importance of measured decision-making.

Although frost can leave vines looking lifeless, recovery begins almost immediately. The key is to resist the urge to react too quickly. Careful observation allows growers to understand the extent of damage and avoid unnecessary intervention.

Vines naturally activate secondary buds and redirect energy into regrowth, but this can affect yield and fruit quality later in the season. Combined with warmer conditions, vigorous growth can follow—making shoot selection and canopy management especially important.

Start small. Think long-term. Transform your vineyard. 🌱

At Vinescapes, we believe meaningful change in viticulture doesn’t have to start big—it just has to start well.

That’s why we’re proud to support the The Regenerative Viticulture Foundation and its One Block Challenge™—a practical way to trial regenerative methods within a single vineyard block.

This approach gives growers the confidence to test and refine techniques like improving soil health, boosting biodiversity, and building resilience—without unnecessary risk.

We’re supporting this journey through:
• Training for grape growers at upcoming RVF field events
• Free initial, site-specific technical support (subject to availability)

We’re already seeing how small, well-managed changes can make a real difference in both soil and vine performance.

📍 Join us and the RVF on 13 May at Arun Valley Vineyard in West Sussex for a field morning focused on undervine w**d management and composting. Email [email protected] to register

Thinking about taking your first step into regenerative viticulture and need some practical advice suited to your site? We’re here to help.

Great to spend time in the Moselle Valley, Germany with the team from CLEMENS Technologies & AGRICULTURAL LIMITED this week getting a behind the scenes look at where this incredible vineyard equipment is designed and built.

From the early days of equipment to today’s full range of canopy management and under-vine cultivation attachments — it’s impressive to see how a family-run company has evolved alongside the needs of modern viticulture.

Walking through both the old and new factories and hearing the story firsthand really shows the level of engineering, innovation and vineyard understanding behind the kit. This is why Clemens continues to lead the market.

Trips like this help us deepen our knowledge so we can guide our customers towards the right equipment for their vineyards — whether it’s improving soil management, canopy work, or under-vine cultivation.

We’re always learning so we can help growers make better choices in the vineyard. 🍇🚜
