Teviot has been a fixture of Edinburgh life since 1889, holding the proud title of the world’s oldest purpose-built student union. After a massive, much-anticipated renovation, its doors are back open. While it’s steeped in university history, one of the best things about the redesign is that it is a space built for everyone, students and Edinburgh locals alike.
We caught up with Courtney McNair, Teviot’s Deputy Venue Operations Manager, to talk about what it takes to bring a 130-year-old landmark back to life, the comforting predictability coffee brings to an all-day neighbourhood spot, and the best spots to hide out with a flat white in the sun.
