In a culture of new openings and new trends, sometimes you just have to stop and celebrate the absolute classics we already have on our doorstep. When I say, wowed… I’ve always known was a great restaurant, but last night was a wonderful reminder of just HOW good it really is - incredibly warm hospitality, gorgeous wine list and the food, wow, the food… the beef tartare made at the table was absolute perfection, easily one of the best we’ve ever had 👏🏼 Every dish was such a celebration of Scottish produce & French cookery - If you’re looking for your next date night spot, it’s right here.

When I say I voted for to be the best Sunday roast *immediately* after eating this…. 10/10 & the best I’ve had in Edinburgh in years!

Pure indulgent, rich, gorgeousness on a plate - oh & the paired Rhône valley Grenache/Syrah was 🤌🏼 Additional shout out for the buttermilk fried chicken crumpet too & being so accommodating with two toddlers offering smaller portions of anything off the menu - the ‘quick let’s get them some food’ plate of Mortadella went down a treat 👏🏼 Get a table booked while you can…

Welcome to Edinburgh 🙌🏼 Tucked up away on the 4th floor of , it may not have the jaw dropping views of its London HQ, but it’s an equally gorgeous interior that instantly feels like a Saturday night (even if we did visit at Monday lunchtime…).

We shared a mix of small plates & the OG Duck & Waffle main (you just have too), which was crispy, sweet & melt in mouth good 🧇 I think my standout favourite was the beef tartare, so delicious! We also had the haggis bar with duck fat caramel which was really tasty (much bigger than expected) & the foie gras creme brûlée - probably the only dish I wouldn’t rush back for, just wayyyy too sickly sweet for us with brioche on the side too. All in all, a few really tasty plates of food & great atmosphere, we’ll be back… probably on an actual Saturday night 🥂

📍 Monachyle Mhor,

We just had the most amazing stay at Monachyle Mhor that warranted an out of town shout out for any Edinburgh folk looking for a foodie night away within an easy drive away!

From the minute we arrived to complimentary welcome coffees, followed by us ordering the whole lunch menu (wow, best celeriac soup I’ve ever had) to the shortbread biscuits in your bedroom - every detail was perfection! Dinner is a 3-course menu that changes daily, with a meat, fish & veggie option for each course. I went for the goats curd, hazelnut & beetroot starter which was insanely delicious, followed by melt in the mouth venison for main, and a full poached apple with cinnamon & black garlic for dessert, all washed down with a great selection of wines 🍷 The next day started with a 2-course breakfast, porridge for the kids & smoked trout with scrambled eggs for me… when I tell you these were the BEST scrambled eggs I’ve ever eaten, wow - I don’t want to know how much cream or butter was used the making, but who cares, wow 🤤.

I think you might still be able to bag a deal on at the moment for stays until March, I’d highly recommend for the foodies in your life!

Oofttt, hello pub food of dreams! We love the outdoor terrace at The Bonnie Badger]] in summer, but the cosiness of the pub at christmas might just tip it! 🎄🕯️Especially when you can feast on all the warming pub classics like steak pie, fish & chips or this plate of beauty - the ‘ham, egg & chips’… wow, wow, wow 🤤 No matter how many times I’ve ordered this dish, it just gets better & better!

If you’re looking for a wholesome day out of Edinburgh, I’d highly recommend a wee drive to East Lothian with a pit stop at The Bonnie Badger]] for some of the best pub grub you can eat!

When you can choose anywhere in Edinburgh to eat for your birthday, always choose the ribeye steak & lobster club sandwich at , it’s been a mainstay of the menu for years & that’s because it’s just so unbelievably good 🙌🏼🥪

And the next best thing about , a wonderful selection to choose from for a side of champagne! 🥂

📍 , The Shore.

Sometimes I forget how amazing a good long lazy brunch at a weekend is (doesn’t happen often these days) and was every bit as good as we remembered. The kind of brunch where before realising it you’re on your third flat white & just enjoying the atmosphere... oh and the croque madame is 12/10 🥪🍳

A Monday lunch very (very) well spent at at . Special mention for the cauliflower fritters, zhug and crème fraîche, and the burrata, zhug, pickled chillies & herbs… hands down two of the best small plates I’ve eaten in Edinburgh 😋

If you’re on the hunt for somewhere good to go for sharing as a table, would 10/10 recommend 😋

A dark rainy autumnal weekend ahead, looking for somewhere new to try? is your answer. I’m sure I’m amongst the many locals who’ve watched this restaurant being built from the ground up in Canonmills, wondering who would take it on & what it would offer 🧐 Well is here & it’s been brought to life by the team behind , their third restaurant in the city.

It’s safe to say the food was stunning, if you know then you know what to expect in terms of quality. I ordered the roast duck with beetroot purée, roasted beetroot, smoked celeriac, chicory, hazelnuts & jus, it was absolute melt in mouth good 🤤 The seared scallops with black pudding (👉🏼) also got rave reviews. With a changing menu every two weeks guaranteeing seasonality, it’s one to try again and again.

With its cosy modern dark interiors & glass walls, this is definitely one to visit for a late dinner, enjoy a bottle of red & a tipsy stroll home 👌🏼🍷 Also one to look forward to in spring when you can enjoy aperitifs on the terrace overlooking the water of Leith 🙌🏼
