Lots going on today😃…

As we continue Stilton week , we will also be showcasing our large selection of Raw Milk Cheeses for .

There will be Cheese scones and Cheese chat …

If you’re in the mood for ‘melty cheese’ this weekend we have several different choices of Raclette and a great Swiss Vacherin 😋..

Sadly, the tasting tables will be closed due to staffing issues BUT the counter is FULL of interesting cheese, we will have samples out and we will , as always, keep smiling ! 😃

Be kind to the till boy, he’s a bit out of practice 😬…

LOYALTY CARDS ARE HERE ….

In just 2 weeks time we will be celebrating our 2nd Birthday at 28a High St, Ely…

Firstly , how did that happen 😮….
Secondly , it happened because of YOU ! Our regular, loyal customers , supporters and champions of me, cheese and our little place in the City …

Now I’m not going to pretend it’s been easy , jeez, this year I’ve had so many curve balls I really can’t catch any more , but you have all stood by me, helped, bought cheese and made me feel so loved , I just needed to give you something back . As a thank you, we are introducing VC loyalty cards.

For every £10 spent in a single transaction , you get a stamp on your card, 12 stamps and your card becomes £5 off your next purchase .

This collab has been in the pipeline for over a year but it’s finally here thanks to the wonderful Charlotte and her team at Gin In A Tin .

With my favourite Gin team heading into retirement it seemed perfect timing to do this now ….and rather than go thru all the other Gins on the market we decided to have our own !

Victoria’s ‘Gin In a Tin’ is a subtle blend of Fig, Sage & Thyme along with Juniper and a few other botanicals.

We think she tastes great, looks great and will make the perfect Christmas gift for your Gin lover.

We will be launching perfect pre order Gift Hamper for Christmas with a couple of our local hero’s via the website very soon !

Ok, technically Alisia Victoria but I’m shortening it …

This beautifully crafted Swiss 🇨🇭cheese is made from raw cow’s milk in the Emmental Valley. Can we take a moment to appreciate that fabulous rind ……

The cheese was revived in 2007 through a collaboration with a local hotel (Victoria Hotel & Spa) in the region, resurrecting a historic recipe from the cheesemaker’s great-great-grandfather. The name Alisia is dedicated to the favorite cow of the herd that produced the milk for the cheese.

THE SHOP WILL BE CLOSED ON 25th APRIL 2027 ……..

In 2017, whilst training for my first TCS London Marathon in aid of Arthritis UK I had a funny turn and had to halt my training … a month later I was diagnosed with a heart condition called Wenkeback Phenomenon. Basically my heart rhythm slows down and then randomly drops a beat . I was cleared to carry on with my training but at a lower intensity and I had one of the best days of my life in April 2017 as I approached my 50th birthday . I vowed one day I would do it again 😃

A few months ago I was diagnosed with a nasty autoimmune Arthritis and I’m now on Chemotherapy drugs to try and control it ( without which I would struggle to get out of bed and run my little shop ) .

2027 the stars have aligned and me and my much better half will be running ( run / walk for me ) the first iconic London Double. Arthritis didn’t want me this year but British Heart Foundation did 😃, and so I will proudly be doing it for my ticker and anyone else who will need or has needed their help . We are not strangers to heart attacks and stents in our family and one day I may need a pacemaker for my own ❤️.

Over the next 6th months , all profits from scone sales will go to my fundraising , along with special events, special grab bags and other fundraising to help donate as much as I can for British Heart Foundation . I am not asking for anyone to ‘pay for my place’ , I have already donated to secure my spot but would love to raise as much as I can .

It won’t be easy , walking is painful at the moment , I’m not in the best of health , BUT, those who know me well know I will cross both those lines on Sunday 25th April 2027 ( way, way behind Paul who will finish , go to hotel , wash , change, celebrate and then come and see where I am ) 🤣.

If you want an early morning toddle in Ely on Tuesdays or Wednesdays then hit me up as I’ll be getting the trainers out of the box next week 🤞🏼.

Were are back open from 9 am today and it coincides with the arrival of the first Vacherin of the season 😃🍁🧀

Made with the rich milk of the Comte cows as they head down the mountains for the winter , this is a seasonal treat not to be missed .

Whether you enjoy at room temperature or bake for extra gooey richness, that’s your choice.

We recommend cornichons, salami and one of Neil’s loaves for the full Vacherin experience 😋.
