No/low beer is the UK’s fastest-growing beer category. Swipe to see what’s driving this and how Fell is responding.

The no/low category had a record year in 2025, according to the British Beer & Pub Association, with 200m pints sold, which accounts for almost 3% of the UK’s total beer market. - Morning Advisor

The pace at which this category is growing is staggering, with the pace of growth is expected to surpass that of the last 4 years, with forecast volume CAGR of +7%, 2022-26, compared to +5%, 2018-22.

The consumers of no/low beer are exhibiting similar behaviours, including the growing use of the ‘zebra striping method’. This refers to alternating between alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, which ‘’allows people to stay in control while still fully enjoying the experience.’’ This trend is now reflected in data supporting the rise of no/low, with recent analysis showing that nearly half (48%) of Brits are already zebrastriping when visiting the pub. These changing behaviours and relationships with alcohol are also evident in a report by KAM Media which shows 1 in 3 adult pub/restaurant visits do not involve any alcohol consumption, with Gen Z and younger millennials leading the trend.

This, and the wider drivers of consumer behaviour in relation to the low and no alcohol drinks, has also been captured recently by KAM Media in their latest report. The report shows 1 in 3 adult pub/restaurant visits do not involve any alcohol consumption, 31% of customers have left a venue early and/or disappointed because of poor low & no options and 40% will research low & no options ahead of time if they’re visiting a pub, bar or restaurant and not drinking alcohol.

Fell Brewery has also felt the effects of this new rise in no/low beer drinkers; Beck, our 0.5% pale ale, has become our fastest-growing beer in the first half of 2026.

It has also become a highly popular choice for drinkers across all Fell bars, as well as on draught at KITTchEN , The Factory Tap Brewery Arts Brewery Arts and Rind | Wine Shop & Bar

Here’s a glimpse into a Packhorse brew day at Fell, where all our collaborative efforts come together, and our brewery team works incredibly hard to produce beer of the highest possible quality. It was fantastic to have Lindon from Craft Beer Keswick and Adam from The Square Orange join us and enjoy the process.

Also featuring John, our head brewer, enjoying a pint of Packhorse at Craft Beer Keswick as they celebrate their 5th birthday!

Introducing: Packhorse - 5.5%

Here’s a beer made with our pals Craft Beer Keswick to celebrate their 5th lap around the sun! It’s a succulent NEIPA, giving just enough bitterness to balance the sweet, jammy malt bill while providing the perfect platform to showcase Nelson Sauvin, Motueka & Zappa at the dry hop.

Was a pleasure to work on Packhorse with our close friends at Craft Beer Keswick team. Behind-the-scenes photos from our brew day are coming soon,

3rd spaces are an integral part of our communities. But, unfortunately, more and more are closing due an unsustainable rise in costs across the board.

Here at Fell, we have five bars across Cumbria and Manchester, showcasing the best of what we produce and beers from other UK breweries we admire and love. As well as beer, we work with a plethora of independent cidermakers, distilleries, soft drinks producers and snackmakers.

£1 in every £6 we take goes to VAT and our VAT bill is the largest single expense across our business.

That’s why we’re supporting the VAT’s the problem campaign. Calling on the Government to bring the UK closer to Europe and supporting hospitality in whatever shape and form it takes.

Fell’s Cask Philosophy. Our unpasteurised and unfiltered opinion.

When you order a pint, it’s either poured directly from a tap attached to the cask or pulled through the beer line by a hand pump. Cask beer has no added gas; its gentle sparkle comes from carbon dioxide naturally produced during fermentation.

Meaning cask beer is a living product. This goes through a secondary stage of fermentation inside the barrel. Which is why at Fell we believe it’s worth it to dedicate the time, skill, and care to serve cask properly.

At Fell, we’ve recognised the growing appreciation for cask beer. Our Fell Northern Quarter General Manager, Denny, explains how this trend has influenced both overall sales and the atmosphere at Fell Northern Quarter.

‘Then came Cask Club: two days of discounted pints on our quietest nights to keep the beer flowing and get more people trying cask. As drinkers look for fresher, more flavourful ‘proper pints’, cask is quickly becoming one of the bar’s quickest sellers. Now people are coming to us just for our cask – What a feeling!!’

The most recent addition to our cask lineup is Northern Outpost — a smooth, juicy Hazy Session IPA at 4.9%. The perfect refreshment for the current heatwave. Now pouring across the North West at all Fell Bars.
