Snowy scenes at Black Isle Yurts.
The mild sunny weather this week has allowed us to get on with some much needed fence repairs, the view helps as well!
It’s a good time of the year to be busy in the workshop. Here are some nice pieces of larch getting planed and seasoned in a jig. This creates the slight bend in the trellis that make up the walls of the yurts. All our yurts are totally unique and hand crafted right here at Black Isle Yurts!
Merry Christmas from Black Isle Yurts!
It's just gone 3pm and the moon is rising in the east and sun is setting to the west. We never tire of this beautiful view!
First dusting of snow for the winter...
Autumn has very much arrived at Black Isle Yurt. With just over a month left before we close for the winter now is your chance to come and enjoy the woodland in all its glorious colours. If you cant fit in an escape in the coming weeks then check out our website for availability for 2022, bookings are now open!
This fab new bakery has just opened up down the road in Fortrose. Well worth checking out if your going to be staying with us in the coming weeks.
Thank you so much to everyone who has come down to Bakhoos for our first week, it’s been an unbelievable turn out and so much wonderful support, so we just wanted to say thanks! 🙏🏻 Back on Thursday to Sunday at 8am…now to have a wee rest 😊👍🏻.

Meet 'Mr Greg', the hansom Shorthorn bull we are borrowing this year. Luckily the cows seem to like him!
Here is a wee peek at our latest project. Its a modern twist on a traditional yurt! We have been busy working on it over the summer but hope to have it ready for spring 2021.
The last couple of days we have enjoyed being above the clouds, perfect weather to get the final couple of yurts down for the season. Thanks to everyone who came to visit and supported us this year!
Here are some fab pictures taken of the moon halo last weekend by one of our guests staying in Rowan yurt. (photo credit to Colin Massey). Rowan yurt still has availability this weekend. After that all the yurts will be shut for the winter, opening again in March 2021.
Last chance to book a short break before we pack up for winter! Some are already down but Hazel and Rowan are both still up and available until Sunday and the weather looks good these coming days. https://www.xcweather.co.uk/forecast/IV10%208SL

Greetings all! Here's a taste of Storm Ali as seen from by our barn earlier (accompanied by a funky tune, as heard in the barn earlier!) - we're glad to report that the yurts are all standing strong despite the crazy wind :)
A wee time-lapse of our lovely little guest/ helper yurt going up a couple of weeks back, backed by some rousing central asian/ Afghan pop music (from Turyalai Tapesh), just for the fun of it... Get in touch via PM if you fancy staying in it for a week or two this summer (in return for some gruelling manual labour, obviously!) :)
Black Isle Yurts is pleased to be open and ready for winter visitors - perhaps the occasional ski tourist might one day make a base here? Otherwise, we are glad to report that the fields, new access road and yurt site all have definite snowsports potential (although a bit more snow would help next time and the sheep aren't so sure it's a good idea!!). Mountain biking at the adjacent Learnie Red Rock trails is another great year-round activity option, whatever the weather and regardless of what the sheep think...
Perfect day for taking some epic aerial shots of the farm and yurt site (finished off with a perfect landing - well done, Sam!) - hopefully some stunning photos to follow here on FB and at www.blackisleyurts.co.uk in the coming days/weeks :)
A quick time-lapse video of the Hazel Geodome going up last week. More pics to follow, especially of the deck the dome is built on (which Kenneth considers his greatest carpentry accomplishment to date!) Enjoy :)
