This announcement is coming a little earlier than expected, but we wanted to let everyone know that our rhubarb has now sold out for the season.
First of all, thank you. We’ve been delighted to see so many of you visiting the farm and enjoying the pick-your-own experience. Your enthusiasm and support meant that our rhubarb sold exceptionally quickly this year.
The other factor has been the weather. We experienced a particularly cold and dry spring, which slowed growth at a crucial time when the rhubarb would normally be getting into its stride. Although the recent warmer weather has been very welcome, and we were fortunate to enjoy a lovely crop, the plants never fully recovered from those challenging early conditions, making this years harvest shorter than usual.
As every farmer knows, you can do everything right, but nature always has the final say.
Unfortunately this means we are no longer able to honour our planned open days throughout June. We are very sorry to everyone who had booked to visit and appreciate your understanding.
The good news is that we still have frozen rhubarb available, along with our full range of rhubarb products in the shop. If you would like to purchase any of these, please get in touch, we’d be delighted to help.
