A Carnivore’s Delight in Manchester Sausage Shack
The Sausage Shack, located in the heart of Manchester, is a haven for sausage enthusiasts. Known for its eclectic range of gourmet sausages and casual dining atmosphere, this eatery promises a unique and hearty experience. On a recent visit, I decided to delve into their offerings and see if it lived up to the hype.
The Sausage Shack exudes a laid-back, cozy vibe, perfect for a casual meal with friends or family. The interior is decorated with quirky sausage-themed art and rustic wooden tables, creating a welcoming and fun environment. The open kitchen allows diners to watch the chefs in action, adding to the lively atmosphere. The staff were friendly and efficient, providing prompt service with a smile.
To start, I opted for the Loaded Sausage Fries and Sausage Platter.
Loaded Sausage Fries: This dish was a delightful mess of flavors. Crispy fries topped with chunks of juicy sausage, melted cheese, and a generous drizzle of spicy aioli. The combination of textures and flavors was addictive – the crispy fries, savory sausage, and creamy cheese all melding together beautifully. The aioli added a nice kick, elevating the dish from ordinary to extraordinary.
Sausage Platter: The platter featured a selection of their best sausages, including classic bratwurst, spicy chorizo, and a smoky kielbasa. Each sausage was cooked to perfection, with a nice char on the outside and juicy, flavorful meat inside. The accompanying dipping sauces – mustard, aioli, and a tangy BBQ sauce – were excellent complements, each enhancing the flavor profile of the sausages in different ways.
For the main course, I decided on the Ultimate Sausage Sandwich and Bangers and Mash.
Ultimate Sausage Sandwich: This sandwich was a towering masterpiece. Packed with three different types of sausages – bratwurst, chorizo, and Cumberland – it was a carnivore’s dream. The sausages were nestled in a soft, fresh baguette along with caramelized onions, pickles, and a generous smear of mustard. Every bite was a burst of flavors, with the different sausages providing a variety of textures and tastes. The caramelized onions added a sweet contrast, while the pickles brought a refreshing crunch.
Bangers and Mash: A classic British dish done right. The sausages were plump and juicy, served atop a mound of creamy mashed potatoes. The gravy was rich and savory, with a hint of sweetness from the caramelized onions. The mash was buttery and smooth, providing the perfect base for the flavorful sausages and gravy. This dish was the epitome of comfort food, hearty and satisfying.
Despite being quite full, I couldn’t resist trying the Sausage-Inspired Dessert – a quirky offering that piqued my curiosity.
Sausage-Inspired Dessert: This unique creation featured a sweet sausage made from chocolate and nuts, served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The “sausage” was surprisingly delicious, with the chocolate and nuts providing a satisfying crunch and rich flavor. The vanilla ice cream was a perfect accompaniment, balancing the richness of the chocolate sausage with its creamy, smooth texture.
The Sausage Shack in Manchester delivers a delightful dining experience with its creative and flavorful sausage-centric menu. The ambiance is fun and casual, making it a great spot for a relaxed meal. The dishes are well-crafted, showcasing the versatility and deliciousness of sausages in various forms. Whether you’re a sausage aficionado or simply looking to enjoy a hearty meal, The Sausage Shack is a must-visit. I left with a full belly and a newfound appreciation for the humble sausage, eager to return and explore more of their menu.
