Last and by no means least, announcing our final Board of Nutters members Daniel Murphy Connor, Will Baxter and Stephen J. Crozier…

Following four years of apprenticeships and trainings mostly in the Irish agroecological space, Daniel’s work carries him throughout food, ecology, community and activism - primarily calling back to seeds, their stories and fair access to them. Along the way he has worked with organisations that focus on community and movement building - the main goal is for his work to contribute to just, fair and free lives for humans and non humans through the support of resilient, joyful and lasting food producing cultures.
He’s a big believer in the importance of intersectionality, festival culture and working cross sector and space to achieve our many goals as well as being an advocate for better working rights and inclusion for q***r and marginalised people in agriculture and rural spaces.

Will has worked with Andrew for several years on various building and growing projects at the farm. He likes to talk ideas and try to get some of them into practice. At the weekends you can find him in a field or a forest, generally looking for something to eat!

Stephen retired in 2022 after 40 years of working in the European food industry. He currently lives a life of self sufficiency with a passion for the propagation and cultivation of Pawpaws in the UK.

Revealing the third trio from our Board of Nutters…

Dr Lucy Williamson is an award-winning Public Health Nutritionist, Author and former Vet with 30 years’ experience across soil, livestock, food and human health. She communicates the evidence-base on soil to gut nutrition for optimal health. Lucy holds advisory roles to advance food system change working at the intersection of regenerative agriculture and human health. A former lecturer and ambassador for the Love British Food campaign, Lucy’s book Soil to Gut is published July 2026.

Jake Spooner has spent the early parts of his career focused Renewable Energy development taking projects from concept to energy generation. With a passion for organic farming and agroforestry, he is joining the Board of Nutters to bring his expertise in fund raising and project delivery to help support the expansion of all things nuts.

Tom McVeigh is an arable farmer from Suffolk and a Nuffield scholar studying walnuts and hazelnuts as commodity crops in the UK. His interest in nuts began searching for a high value crop, with a low labour requirement that would yield in a changing climate- without further degrading the soil.

They make up part of a new group of inspiring, thoughtful and brilliantly nutty people, who are going to help shape the future of our farm, and the British nut movement. We’ve chosen to draw from a diverse range of influences and experiences and we can’t wait to see what the future holds!

We’re excited to present three more people on our Board of Nutters: Josiah, Raakhee and Nick…

Josiah Meldrum cofounded Hodmedod in order to increase the diversity of British-grown pulses and grains in fields and on plates. Hodmedod has grown from a trial in Norwich that asked whether people would be willing to eat UK-grown beans and peas, to a national business championing forgotten foods like carlin peas and introducing farmers to new crops like lentils - all within the context of agroecology; supporting low-input rotations that prioritise soil health and transparent supply systems.

Raakhee Tailor is the founder and host of the Sustainable Founders podcast. A Londoner with 15+ years in fmcg sales, who recognises that business, profit and the wellness of people and planet is all aligned. In 2019, Raakhee founded artisan scarf brand Wild Saint London and realised that consumers struggled to navigate between brands with one off green stunts and brands that are rooted in an ethical strategy. Raakhee was inspired to scale conversations and started the podcast in 2023; “Sustainability is not binary, it’s multiple interwoven issues and often lacks transparency”. The podcast series offers refreshing real-world story telling, casting a wide net across industries, with surprising commonalities and shared principals.

Nick Milton is food obsessed, seeking to understand food in all aspects of the food system / supply chain, from growing to cooking to supermarkets. Having gained a masters in plant sciences, Nick went on to work as a chef. His passion for quality, responsible sourcing and the use of food as a medium for conversations grew further, but he decided it would not be in the kitchen where he would help drive food system change. He now working for a large fruit and veg wholesaler, focussed on grower relationships, flavour and sustainable methods of production.

Announcing the Board of Nutters! The first three!

We are so thrilled to launch this newly formed group of inspiring, thoughtful and brilliantly nutty people, who are going to help shape the future of our farm, and indeed the British nut movement! 🌰

We’ve focused on drawing on a range of influences, from chefs and ecologists to artists, lawyers and fellow farmers…we’ve made the group intergenerational, eclectic and balanced, and we can’t wait to see what this ignites for our project!

Here are the first three to be announced! (9 more to come!)

Farhana Yamin needs little introduction in these circles- an international lawyer and climate justice activist who has advised vulnerable countries in UN climate talks for over 30 years attending nearly all of the UN Summits COPs since 1991. She played a key role in the negotiation of the 1997 Kyoto Protocol as well the 2015 Paris Agreement ensuring it contained the goal of net-zero emissions, an idea she put forward in 2013. She has founded or shaped several global
coalitions and movements, including the Climate Vulnerable Forum, the Cartagena Dialogue,
the High Ambition Coalition and Culture COP. Her work has earned her numerous accolades
& awards, including being named No. 2 on the BBC’s 2020 Power List, where judges
described her as a “powerhouse of climate justice.”

Grace Whitty is a multi disciplinary artist, educator, and climate activist. She currently works for Studio Cultivate - delivering an agro-ecological curriculum to London school children. Additionally trained at Ecole Philippe Gaulier in theatre and clown, Grace combined her twin passions of art and environmentalism to found ‘The Last Tree Theatre Project’ - an environmental theatre initiative that has toured Kenya, Edinburgh, and London. In her spare time, she facilitates wild camps on Dartmoor with WildWise and runs circus and theatre sessions for displaced communities with The Flying Seagull Project.

Harry Dyer is Co-Founder of SHRUB, a British Seasonal Wholesaler specialising in routes to market for small scale farms, currently focused on selling into the London Restaurant industry.

📚 Will’s book recommendation is the latest by the inspiring optimist, Rob Hopkins. “I really enjoyed reading How to Fall in Love with the Future as it gave me hope for an aspect of the climate crisis for which I struggle to be optimistic: the need for us to change our personal choices to live in a sustainable world. Through real heartwarming stories of inspirational work by ordinary people, How to fall in love with the future gives you something to work for instead of something to work against.” 💭💭

📚📚One of Róisín’s favourite books on the theme of food, farming or trees (…and probably an all round top ten) is The Overstory by Richard Powers. “For those who haven’t read it, it’s a fiction about trees and follows humans whose lives become entangled in trees, and one another through their connections either trees. Multi-generational human lives are reframed by tree lifetimes, and the story changed how I think about trees and time.”
🌳🌲
“I also recently listened to Dr Suzanne Simard’s memoir ‘Finding the Mother Tree’ (audiobook is read by the author) while working on the farm, and who’s life is seemingly the inspiration for Patricia Westerford in The Overstory. It’s a deeply intimate account of her personal and scientific life, her discovery of how trees communicate and share resources, and I enjoyed the depth of detail learning about her methodologies.”
