What a month May has been!
With Mark out of action, it has been all hands on deck and we honestly couldn't have got through it without the incredible support of family, friends, neighbours and customers.
The help we have received has been overwhelming, and we are so grateful to every single person who has mucked in, turned up, checked in, changed hot tubs, picked up supplies, cut the grass, lent equipment, moved animals, fixed things and generally kept us going. You know who you are, thank you. ❤️
The farm certainly hasn't stood still. Lambing has now finished for 2026, calving has continued, silage first cut is complete, fields have been drained, muck has been spread, and we have added new fencing and gates around the farm. The huts - Incline View Holidays have been incredibly busy, which we are very grateful for, although we do still have some midweek availability if you're looking for a countryside escape.
We were disappointed to postpone our school visits, but we're looking forward to welcoming schools back during June.
One of the highlights of the month was hosting a visit from National Park representatives from across the country. Guests enjoyed a farm tour and were served our home-produced beef, giving us a fantastic opportunity to showcase what we're trying to achieve here at New Sheepfold Farm.
Our January-born lambs have now started heading to market, we have enjoyed seeing many of you at Goathland Farmers Market and Marske Farmers Market, and we are excited that our first beef box deliveries have gone out. We are fully stocked with our beef & lamb and lots of other Yorkshire produce.
It's not all been good news. We sadly said goodbye to our much loved Labrador Sky and also to Alan the Billy Goat, both much-loved characters here at the farm and very much part of the New Sheepfold family. ❤️
On a happier note, we have welcomed even more goat kids, who are keeping everyone entertained with their usual antics!
Away from the farm, Louise managed a trip to Wembley to see the Boro lose, she’s hoping her next time will be 6th time lucky – a rare day off and a chance to recharge before heading straight back into farm life.
As we head into June, we are hoping for a slightly calmer month (although farms rarely work like that!) and looking forward to school visits, summer visitors and all the jobs still waiting on the ever-growing list.
Thank you for continuing to support New Sheepfold Farm. Whether you have stayed with us, bought our produce, visited us at a market, shared a post or simply checked in to see how we are doing, it really does make a difference.
