What do you get when you pair my new Traditional Curry Powder with a crispy, golden cutlet?
A taste of Sri Lankan street food — straight from your kitchen.

These fish cutlets are spicy, savoury, and so moreish. They're made with mashed potato, tinned tuna (or salmon!), fresh green chilli, and just a touch of my curry powder to tie it all together.

🌶️ Pro tip: Dip them in our Tomato Chutney for that perfect tangy heat!
You’ll never want plain ketchup again.

Want to try it yourself? Here’s the recipe:
(Makes approx. 25 cutlets)
🥔 350g boiled & mashed potatoes
🐟 2 tins tuna (or salmon), well-drained
🧅 1 medium onion, finely chopped
🌶️ 2 green chillies, finely chopped
🧄 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
🧂 Salt, pepper, chilli powder to taste
🌿 ½ tsp Sobavee Curry Powder

Method:
Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan. Sauté ginger-garlic paste, onion, and chilli.
Add spices and curry powder, then stir in the fish. Let it fry and fold well.
Add mashed potatoes and combine evenly.
Form into balls or patties.
Dip in whisked egg, coat in breadcrumbs (double coat for extra crunch!)
Deep fry on medium-high heat until golden.

✨ Best enjoyed hot, with a side of Tomato Chutney and a cup of my Masala Chai 😋

Authentic Curry Powder - £1, Tomato Chutney - £3.50, Masala Chai Mix - £2.50

Introducing: Traditional Curry Powder
🌶️ Hand-roasted. Fragrant. Ground from my own family recipe.

This isn’t just any curry powder. It’s the one I learned to make from my mother, who always said: “Start with a good base — but don’t add too much. Let each dish have its own voice.”

That’s why my blend is simple, clean and powerful:
Coriander, cumin, fennel, curry leaves and pandan.
No overpowering cinnamon or cardamom, chilli — because some flavours should be added at the moment of cooking, to create something uniquely yours. That means every curry will have its own, special flavour!

✨ Aromatic but balanced
✨ Small-batch, fresh-ground
✨ The heart of my Sri Lankan kitchen

Use it to season your vegetables, dals, curries or even roast potatoes. Start with a strong base — then make it your own.

This mix is available for just £1.50 - visit my website or DM to order!

😍 Did you know?
I use organic coconut vinegar in my products for a tangy depth of flavour that’s as good for your taste buds as it is for your gut.

Made from naturally fermented coconut sap, this gentle vinegar is rich in minerals and has a mellow, slightly sweet acidity — perfect for balancing sweetness with the warmth of spices.

✨ 100% natural
🌴 Traditionally made
🌱 Suitable for vegans

Coconut vinegar brings a unique character you won’t find in ordinary vinegar.
It’s flavour with purpose.

Try it for yourself! Message or visit my website to order:

I’m so excited to have one of my recipes featured in this week’s Pennine Cropshare newsletter! 🎉

It was such a pleasure to collaborate with Calderdale Valley of Sanctuary and the wonderful team at The Outback Community Kitchen & Garden in Halifax. Together, we made some incredible dishes with Bumper Veg Bags, including my Sri Lankan Sambar Curry served with Semolina Flour Dosa and Coconut Chutney. 🌶️

I can't wait to share more recipes during Refugee Week this June! 🧡

Hello friends — I’m Theja, and today I’m excited to introduce you to my small business: Sobavee!

Sobavee is a little dream come to life — handmade Sri Lankan chutneys and seeni sambal, made with love, tradition, and no artificial ingredients. Just real flavour, from my kitchen to yours.

The name Sobavee comes from a novel I wrote in Sinhala, my native language. In the story, a courageous woman starts her own organic farm and shop — and I gave her business the name Sobavee, a soft and feminine name that stayed in my heart. When I started my own venture, I knew it had to be called the same.

This is just the beginning, and I would love your support!
