U'Luvka re-conjures the spirit of a legendary vodka created by a famous alchemist at the court of King Sigismund III of Poland in the late 16th century. Once filled a glass could not be put down until the entire contents had been drunk...
Legend has it that the court was suffering from hangovers. Distillation methods were still somewhat crude by today's standards and it didn't take many toasts to set you up badly for the following day's work. In a bid to prevent affairs of state from grinding to a halt, the King and Queen commissioned their court alchemist Sendivogius to create a spirit of such exceptional balance and purity that the court might continue to make their traditional toasts by night and run the country effectively by day. Sendivogius applies his alchemical magic and created a royal elixir of rare quality. The court was soon back on its feet, while Sendivigous, despite this preference for anonymity, went on to become on of the most influential figures of his times. He crowned his scientific career as the first person to isolate oxygen. Alchemy is all about achieving transformation through the isolation and purification of essential principles. This is the essence of U'Luvka. Working with Poland's finest modern alchemists, we have recreated Sendivogius's "unfathomable spell.". The result is yours to enjoy. HOW TO DRINK IT
U’Luvka is quite delicious. It is so smooth that, unusually, it tastes just as good at room temperature as it does chilled. We love it just the way it is, but just because it tastes so good straight or on the rocks doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t be mixed. COCKTAILS
Cocktails epitomise pleasure and fun-loving company. U’Luvka loves company and combines with almost anything you can imagine. It makes the ideal vodka martini, the best Bloody Mary, the suavest Cosmopolitan and simply the finest vodka and tonic. Enjoy it any which way or try some of our new creations. We bartenders are all alchemists, taking disparate base ingredients and combining them to make a new unified whole, the Cocktail. Remember to use only the finest ingredients when mixing with U’Luvka as the chain is only as strong as the weakest link. THE TOAST
Toasting is said to derive from the old custom of dropping a piece of spiced toast into one’s drink to give it more flavour. We would never dream of sullying the flavour of U’Luvka in such a way, but we do honour the old custom of raising a glass to propose a toast to something worthwhile. The universal tradition of toasting people’s health recalls the early days of spirit drinking as a way of warding off the plague. Since that danger appears to be past, we prefer to propose a toast of almost equally ancient and universal tradition, which encapsulates our three abiding principles:
“To friendship, love and pleasure”
