Boscadjack Herd of Dairy Goats The goats are a show herd, and producers of sweet, creamy milk. We are licenced to sell un-pasteurised (raw) milk from farm gate.

The herd is small, with never more than 5 goats in milk at any time.

First 3 into the weaning pen. I'd have liked to leave them a few more days, but they decided to become floor runners, so for safety, this is where they stay! 2 more owls will be added, then 2 more to complete thus round. The 2 lavender Lahores will go in beside them, in the other crate. There are 2 red Lahores to come, but they are at least 3 weeks behind. Oddly enough, one was long downed and twice the size of the short downed one(I assumed it was a yellow as it was short down!) but that too is red!! The small one is thriving under the care of the single mum owl and her helper, the yellow Lahore hen. The father of single mums squab, is the apricot c**k😂

Always the same order, Bruno, Manny, Corbiere and Thompson on the end. It's not rank, unless it is, and Manny protects Bruno (he is sometimes 'popular' with the other two!!)

The milk churn was to have been a winter project, so managed to scrape in under that title on Saturday!! It's an old Plymouth Creameries one, picked up with some others, all of which were restored last summer..

Er, part of a mystery solved. For 3 weeks a dun German Owl has been sitting. No matter what time of day or night, always only her. Pigeons take it in turns sitting on eggs, hens sit roughly 4pm to roughly 10 am. The c**k sits by day, so seeing her sitting by day told me she had no male(of her own!!!!) She has a German Owl baby in her nest. But, who is this?? Yellow Lahore hen popped up to feed the baby whilst mum was off the nest. I have not seen her on the nest, in fact, mum Owl normally chases her away. I had 2 hen Owls that I thought were a pair,but there is a non sitting(yet) true pair, so possibly one of them is father?
I had the same last year, I had an odd yellow Lahore hen, so left her in breeding loft, she sat on 2 eggs, morning noon and night. I was surprised when she hatched 2, and got them to a week of age, before needing help. She had a red and a yellow, so that showed who dad was. Dad was busy rearing his young with his hen!!
They say it can't be done, a single pigeon rearing on her own. Wrong, it can be done!!!!

Lavender Lahores, one is perfect, the other will require some trimming, but both big and show able!!
