A BIG surprise when checking the cameras sunday morning! 'Pearl' had given birth to a bonny heifer (girl) calf a month early. Strong, lively and suckling well 😁

One of the challenges, in this freezing weather, is making sure all livestock have water. We switched the pigs to a trough. After a drink they like to play with ice cubes and blow bubbles. 😂 sound on.

We let the cows open their Christmas presents early. Big automatic brush for the breeding herd, small springy one for this year's calves. 😁

Even though I have lots of brown chickens they all have different characters. This is "Cowken". She likes to live with the cows in the day, but with the chickens at night. She lays an egg under the gate just out of reach of hairy hooves and comes to her name to be put back in at night. More Cowken adventures to follow....

We've moved the girls onto the back paddock with some lovely green grass. We want to rest the field next to the egg vending, hopefully so it greens up before it gets too cold for it to grow. So the girls should be back in view in a couple of weeks 🤞😁
