What an incredible honour. Yesterday, Her Majesty Queen Camilla officially opened the Atkinson Morley Wing Garden, a brand new rooftop sanctuary at St George’s Hospital, Tooting, made possible through the John King Brain Tumour Foundation in partnership with St George’s Hospital Charity.
This previously unused space has been transformed into an accessible roof garden, directly linked to the Neuro Intensive Care Unit, bringing the outside world to patients who, until now, had no way to reach it.
The opening marks 10 years since the death of John King, an internationally respected chef and the inspiration behind this foundation, who was cared for by the wonderful team at St George’s following his diagnosis.
The Queen told staff and patients: “I can see the difference it makes just stepping outside into the fresh air. I’m sure all the patients here are going to benefit enormously from this, so I think you’ve done a wonderful job.”
This garden is John’s legacy, and moments like this are why 10% of every Kings Fine Food purchase goes directly to the John King Brain Tumour Foundation. Every order, every delivery, every bite helps make spaces like this possible. Thank you to each and every one of our customers for being part of this journey. 🌿💙
