It's National Hedgerow week and Fenstanton and Hilton cubs learnt what a Happy Hedge was,( needs to comprise at least5 different tree species, be thick enough for nesting birds, have no gaps so a dormouse can travel along without touching the ground and have flowers and fruits for the wildlife to enjoy. They then put their skills to the test helping to stake and protect a recently planted hedge.

Wow! We were absolutely overwhelmed by the support and lovely comments made by visitors to our Blossom Walk today. The sun shone, it was warm and the apple blossom was out! We couldn't have asked for a better day. And we raised a nice sum for the Wildlife Trusts as well. Once we have de-briefed we may consider something similar in the future, so watch this space! Thank you everyone for coming! PS if anyone took any photos they would be happy to share, we would love to see them.

The apple blossom is just coming out, the birds are singing and it feels really spring like in our orchards. We cant wait to see you on Saturday 18 April (10- 3) for our blossom walk. We have a 3K trail to coincide with The Wildlife Trusts hedgehog walk but you dont have to complete it all. (regrettably only assistance dogs permitted) Just enjoy the blossom, bring a picnic or enjoy a hot drink and refreshments. We will also have our apple juice and honey for sale and some activities to keep the children busy.

We are opening our orchards in Bluntisham to the public for the first time to raise money for the Wildlife Trusts in conjunction with their 3K Hedgehog walk. The apple blossom should be out and we will have a waymarked 3K trail with opportunities to spot the wildlife that resides in our orchards such as hare and deer.

Regrettably only Assistance dogs are permitted on site to minimise disturbance to the wildlife.

If you have a group who would like to do their sponsored 3K Hedgehog walk in our orchards, please let us know in advance so we can make suitable arrangements.

Our school visits are over for the summer term and what a lovely time we had with such good weather. As well as learning about the different fruit in the orchards, the children took part in activities about birds, insects and wildlife on the farm and their habitats, did pond dipping and 'orchard bathing' where they simply relaxed and sat quietly and enjoyed the sights and sounds of nature around them. We even had an inquisitive hare come within a few metres of the children before it realised and turned and ran off!

Visits are FREE for schools and pre-arranged Home Ed groups and generally take place in term time between May and mid October. We are almost fully booked for the autumn but if you are interested for the future please contact us for further information.
