📢 A quick notice to our lovely customers

St James Tearoom will be closed on Thursday 6th August for one day only while we carry out some essential maintenance and improvements behind the scenes.

We're taking the opportunity to complete some planned works to ensure we continue providing the best possible experience for everyone who visits us.

We'll be back open as usual on Friday 7th August, with fresh scones, your favourite lunches, cakes and, of course, a warm welcome waiting for you.

Fresh out of the oven... 🧁☀️

We've been working hard already this morning, and today's fresh batch of our homemade scones have just come out of the oven.

Choose from our classic plain or fruity scones, served the way a proper Devon cream tea should be – with rich clotted cream and strawberry jam. Perfect with a pot of tea, a barista coffee, or even a chilled glass of something special while you relax in our beautiful garden beneath the dappled shade of the grapevine.

What a fantastic day at St James Tearoom yesterday – thank you to everyone who came to see us! ❤️

We're back at it again this morning with our homemade scones fresh from the oven and our brisket slowly braising ready for our delicious Philly-style flatbread.

Our beautiful courtyard garden is now in full bloom, with the stunning hydrangeas looking better than ever. It's the perfect spot to relax over lunch, coffee and cake, or even a glass of wine in the sunshine. 🌸🍷

So, what will you choose?

🫖 Homemade Devon Cream Tea with warm, freshly baked scones?
🍯 Hot Honey Crispy Halloumi Flatbread – sweet, spicy and packed with flavour?
🦀 Our hand-picked Devon crab, served in a fresh salad or generously filled sandwich?

After plenty of hard work behind the scenes, we're excited to say that St James Tea Room will be reopening this Friday! 🎉

It is with huge sadness that St James Tearoom has closed it's doors for now. Hopefully it will re-open soon.

This genuinely is a terrific little spot with a huge amount of history and we leave with heavy hearts but wishing whoever becomes the new owners every success.
