Quality Meat Scotland (QMS)

Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) QMS works to shape a sustainable and prospering Scottish red meat industry.

QMS is the public body responsible for helping the Scottish red meat sector improve its efficiency and profitability, and maximise its contribution to Scotland's economy. We market the PGI labelled Scotch Beef and Scotch Lamb brands in the UK and abroad and promote Scottish pork products under the Specially Selected Pork Banner. Our assurance schemes cover more than 90% of livestock farmed for mea

t in Scotland and offer consumers the legal guarantee that the meat they buy has come from animals that have spent their whole lives being raised to some of the world’s strictest standards. Scotland’s beef, lamb and pork producers make an important contribution to the country’s rural economy, contributing over £1,500m to the annual GDP of Scotland and supporting in excess of 30,000 jobs in the farming, agricultural supply and processing sectors. With hundreds of years of tradition, Scottish farmers pride themselves on meeting the high standards of today’s modern consumers, at home and abroad.

🐑 We are launching a sheep edition strand of our ‘Meating Our Potential’ campaign at Scotsheep 2026, highlighting the economic and socio-economic importance of Scotland’s sheep sector.

In partnership with NSA Scotland and the Scottish Red Meat Resilience Group, the campaign aims to support confidence, investment and sustainable growth across the sheep supply chain while showcasing the sector’s contribution to rural communities and the wider economy.👏

🐑We will also engage visitors throughout the event with butchery demonstrations, industry discussions and educational activities for school pupils focused on the journey of Scotch Lamb from farm to fork.🥩
