It still amuses us when we hear people who have never made the effort to find out about Monsterfest that think the name is linked to our acts being loud thrash/death metal music. Our bands are Rock bands, but they go from a mixture of Indie, Goth, Pop, Classic and more, check out the diverse acts from Ewan MacFarlane Music through to Kris Barras Band.

The monster part comes from our most famous resident, the Loch Ness Monster.

One of our biggest and longest supporters of the festival is Loch Ness Water. Their team has been part of our team since day one.

The loch never freezes! The murky waters of Loch Ness remain at a rather year-round temperature of five degrees. It doesn’t heat up, it doesn’t freeze over; it’s just chilly – all the time. 🥶

A week ago today our founder John Oag got hitched to his childhood crush the new Mrs Lorna Oag! 💍💙

We wish them a lifetime of happiness and hope John’s slap back to reality today in the office wasn’t too much of a culture shock after enjoying the wedding bubble for the last wee while.

On that beautiful day out in Cyprus & again for friends and family Saturday past he wore his very own Loch Ness Water Tartan! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Here’s a little more about the Tartan made by Prickly Thistle…

Loch Ness Water is like no other bottled water product in the world. It truly stands alone due to the uniqueness of where the water is actually sourced. The infamous Loch Ness found in the Highlands of Scotland.
Like the uniqueness of this source, Loch Ness Water has its very own story telling tartan. The Loch Ness Water began in October 2015, just weeks after its brand launch. The brief was to create a story telling design that shares with the world the hidden secrets of its water source. The Scottish cloth that was to be woven was then to used to create limited edition and complimentary product ranges for their luxury water.

Prickly Thistle said they enjoyed every step of the journey and are proud to say that this tartan was accepted into The Scottish Register of Tartans on the 18th March 2016. 🙌🏽

Our water is of course extracted straight from the body of the world famous Loch Ness…

Loch Ness Water’s special filtering process has been developed in close conjunction with the Scottish governing food and drink agencies. Each batch of water is rigorously tested to ensure that our consumers can be fully assured of the quality standards and has full traceability.

The watershed of Loch Ness covers more than 700 square miles (1,800 square km) and comprises several rivers, including the Oich and the Enrick. Its outlet is the River Ness, which flows into the Moray Firth at Inverness. Seiches (surface oscillations), caused by differential heating, are common on the loch. The sharp rise and fall of the level of the loch is one reason for the scanty flora of the waters; another reason is the great depths of the loch near the shoreline. The abyssal fauna is also sparse.

Loch Ness is one of those rare destinations that engages everyone, from children enchanted with Nessie, to adults interested in photography, hiking and more. It combines Jacobite history, stunning scenery and the possibility of a monster sighting, ensuring it’s a perfect destination all year round, for all ages.
