🍂 NEW FOR AUTUMN: SOUTHERN GINGERBREAD 🍂

There are some bakes that just taste like autumn, and this one has officially earned its place on the Front Porch. 🧡

Our new Southern Gingerbread is dark, soft and beautifully moist, made with dark brown sugar, date molasses, buttermilk and plenty of warm spice.

The first bite gives you that deep, rich molasses sweetness — and then the ginger sneaks up on you and leaves this gorgeous warmth behind.

Drew and I had to sacrifice one to quality control tonight (obviously 😂), and his verdict was the one that sealed it for me:

“It tastes like the gingerbread I remember as a child.”

Well. You can't ask for much better than that.

So she's staying.

24 years ago today, I married my love. ❤️

We started out on two different continents, somehow found our way to each other, spent 18 years living together in America, ended up on two different continents again, and now here we are, living together in England — until such time as the Home Office decides I get to stay. 😂

It hasn't always been an easy ride. We've had ups and downs, highs and lows, swings and roundabouts, and probably a few occasions when one or both of us would've happily shoved the other one off the roundabout altogether.

But through all of it, there is nobody else I would rather trudge through this crazy world with.

You keep me grounded. You keep me safe. You love me unconditionally — even when I p**s you off, when I rant and rave, yell and scream, overthink everything, and generally do all the things a crazy Southern woman is capable of doing.

You've been beside me through some of the best days of my life and some of the hardest. And somehow, after 24 years, we're still here. Still laughing. Still arguing. Still figuring things out. Still choosing each other.

I don't know what I would do without you, and I don't particularly care to find out.

Twenty-four years is a long damn time, my love.

And I don't plan on ending it anytime soon.

Happy anniversary, Drew. ❤️

Here's to us — and whatever the hell comes next.

🇺🇸 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗦… 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞𝗦𝗚𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗜𝗡 𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗟! 🦃

It’s getting to be that time of year, y’all.

And if there’s one thing the American South knows how to do, it’s 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞𝗦𝗚𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚.

We don’t mess around.

We pull out the good recipes, make far too much food, and fill the table with dishes that have been showing up at our family Thanksgiving dinners for generations.

And this year, 𝗬’𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁? 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴. 🧡

Think 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗰𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗸𝘆 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻-𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗲𝘀, 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀, 𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲, 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲, 𝗺𝗮𝗰 & 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲, 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗮𝘂𝗰𝗲 and 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘀… and, of course, there will be 𝗣𝗜𝗘. 🥧

Some of our sides are savoury. Some are sweet. And some will make a British person look at the plate and ask…

𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘛𝘏𝘈𝘛 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘺? 😂

Yes. Yes, we do.

Now, every Southern family does Thanksgiving a little differently. Every house has its own recipes, its own traditions, and that one dish that 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 be on the table or somebody’s going to have something to say about it. 😂

So I’m not claiming this is 𝘵𝘩𝘦 Southern Thanksgiving.
